As far as I can tell, it was really just there for an immersion / lore kind of a thing, and as another way to buff up your character some more. Collectibles that offer a little extra power, etc.

I was hoping for a bit of something too. I rune, a bunch of points to spend, something..lol
It was still fun getting them all.
And, I might be a bit insane, but I could swear that the cape has a ghostly image of it on the back...I could be just imagining it too..lol
