Help plz. Dunno how to do exectutes/stealth kills.
I'm trying to do stealth kills and ground executions but I can't get them to work. The stealth kills worked fine in the tutorial, but in the open world I get nothing. I just do a regular attack from behind and alert all the orcs for miles like some kind of gaffing goober. I'm holding down right trigger and pushing X like it says, but nothing.

It's true. One does not simply walk into Mordor. I get dropped into Mordor with hardly any instruction or tutorial, and the very first orc I stumble accross after failing at being stealthy is a captain with both the hornblower alarm trait and the tracking trait so I've been doing nothing but running for my life while figuring out all this crap with my bare wits. I haven't died yet luckily because I figured out herbs and that combat is pretty easy.

Plz no tips though. All I want to know is what I'm doing wrong with ground execution and stealth kills.

Oh, I finally managed to kill the HNIC that was tracking me when he was the first to follow me up a ladder and I threw him back down off it. That was pretty funny. Dumbarse.

EDIT: It looks like I don't have a dagger in my weapon scabbards. Do I need to find a dagger or something before I can do ground or stealth kills? I really don't know

Update: Resolved
Apparently I did need to go get a dagger - my first game didn't start me off with a dagger so I needed to start a new game. Weird.

Nobody knows about stealth or ground finishers? cmon

Hint, try using mouse and keyboard. Seems to work very well for me. By the way, its shift and left click for both stealth and ground finishers. (for keyboard)

Never really played much with controller for PC except games like the "Resident Evil" series. This is basically a mashup of Batman Arkham Etc and Assassin's Creed. (which both were fine with Mouse and Keyboard)

Buuut if you aren't much for that you can also check rebind's to see which button is stealth for your controller. Basically you just hold it down and mash the attack button to execute the enemy. Hope it helps somehow!

Well, considering you cannot read what the game tells you, how are we supposed to know you can read what we tell you? The game tells you exactly how to do finishers. The game tells you exactly how to enter Stealth Mode. The game tells you how to purchase upgrades in order for you to do the finishers and executions. The game even tells you that all this information is found in the appendices.

However, since you prefer to whine instead of doing some research and reading on your own, I believe you're beyond all help. Also, I believe people were intentionally avoiding this topic because of how silly the question was, especially considering how all this information is given to you at the start of the game along with constant prompts at the top-left anytime something new is learned.

I believe you dont see your dagger is because you are not in stealth mode. Look under your control settings and see your key bind for stealth mode. Also, ground executions require the target to be knocked down on the ground and stunned before you can execute them.

I seem to recall being able to do it straight out of the gate, Hand - no need to find a dagger or anything. Are you sure the orc isn't aware of you? They'll be shaded red if they're available to stealth kill (if you're in range, undetected, and in stealth).

In terms of executions on grounded enemies, same deal - are you sure the enemy is knocked down and not, yknow... dead? They should be lying down and have little stars circling them if they're available to ground execute. RT+X at that time.

Also, make sure you're holding RT WHEN you push X - if you're not hitting both buttons at the same time, it's not gonna work.

Hope that helps!

If you'd read instead of being that one useless knob you'd know I already passed the tutorial and am pressing the prompt the game gives me. I already said I entered stealth mode like it told me. I can't even do drop finishers.

Seriously, If my post was even as dumb as you say, yours has to be the worst kind of illiterate trash.

I hit the indicated button on my controller while sneaking and the button is held when the orc outline turns red. No stealth kill. I switched to M/KB and that isn't even working.

Hmm. That is REALLY weird. I'm tempted to say that it's a controller issue - but you said it worked fine in the tutorial.

I dunno, man - I'm stumped. Have you tried a different USB port? Is everything running at default controls? Just a couple of shots in the dark, but they might help - especially if the issue is a hardware one rather than with the software.

Well the button for stealth kills/finishers is the same button used for the basic attack; X and that's working fine. It's something with the game. I can't even see my dagger. It's stupid because I see it in cutscenes on my character where it's supposed to be, taunting me.

I have some ideas to try though.

If you're right at the beginning of the game, could you just wipe your save and restart? You might have gotten a SUPER low repro bug when moving from the tutorial to the main game - I'd assume that shouldn't happen again.

Wouldn't take too long if you're skipping the cutscenes you've already seen, I'd guess.

You are not helping anything. He didn't read it, so what? Help him out and stop stating the obvious. Such an awkward and useless post. Kind o flike mine letting you know that you don't seem like the kind of thing to have many if any friends.

I had to start over with a new game. This time I had my dagger and I'm stealth killing everything in sight. Such a weird bug. On my first game, I even restarted the game and loaded it again and I was still missing a dagger, so it's like it was written to my save "no dagger 4 u!"

Solved anyway.

Just going to necro an old post for Humble Bundle people
You ARE supposed to have the dagger as soon as you start the game and leap off the first tower. If you don't see it on your back next to your sword, you need to start a new game.
Blast from the past, wow. Yeah, that was a weird bug.

Wow, I totally forgot writing all that 4 years ago. I cringe myself looking at all the phrases I wouldn't have thought of using today XD
