Let us turn off the HUD
I get that casuals might get confused and need everything in games explained to them. They need their hands held and their cheeks kissed before they are tucked in at night. But for those of us who aren't afraid to play the game, the excessive button prompts, tutorial messages, quest markers and a minimap that shows the location of everything is asinine.

For instance, we have this sweet wraith vision we can use to see everything around us. Then again, you can just look at the minimap.

I doubt the developers read steam forums but I'd love to build support for including options to hide the excessive hud prompts. If nothing else let us TURN OFF THE TUTORIALS, TURN OFF THE QUEST MARKERS, TURN OFF THE HUD MARKERS. I just cannot understand why people who want to play the game aren't allowed to without it stepping in every five seconds to make sure I didn't miss anything. Let me play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, please. I implore you. Some of us enjoy FINDING THINGS. Yes, gamers who appreciate challenge and exploration still exist, please throw us a bone.

I couldn't agree more. I just fired it up for the first time and I'm really disappointed by this.

I like the Tutorial. But at some point, it isn't a Tutorial, it is a timesink. Switching off hints in a visually mindblowing game like this seems natural to be an option.
Made a toggle, would be cool if someone could test it to see if it works for them. (Only been tested on a Windows 10 Nvidia machine so far)

I usualy dont play games like this one but I have to say I too think that I got more carried than achieving anything myself. Its not enough that Talion is an almost invisible superman, the game even tells me anytime someone is swinging at me, and gives me a lot of time to react. And even if I somehow fail, I still get the last chance that is even easier than the usual defense.
It felt challenging before reaching the first power level, but went down in difficulty really quickly afterwards.
Being able to (at least partialy) disable the HUD would definitely help. The ability to see every attack without even looking at the enemies, or being able to see all enemies on the radar, including the way they face, are probably the worst aspects of the HUD.
Im not sure if it would be enough though. Honestly, I would remove all the instant combat abilities, because they make the combat incredibly easy. It felt good to find time in combat for an uniterrupted ground execution, but this was removed really soon by the instant one. It felt good to be forced to manage the arrows, but the uniterruptable combat drain removed that as well. That they require hit streak? One vault over an orc followed by few quick flash strikes builds it within seconds.

I don't agree with that, the tutorial and all HUD options should be availabe all time, because there are many people leave the game for long time then return to it.

I used to sort of get annoyed with games that have the whole, "Don't like it? Turn it off." mentality but Shadows of Mordor is a big game. I can understand why someone would be interested in having all this information. It's easier, and that's no different from picking a lower difficulty option. That said, sometimes you don't want to be spoonfed every bit of information. Ubisoft learned this lesson and their latest games all allow you to heavily tailor the HUD.

The point is I'm fine if during focus testing the publisher decided these elements should be there for people who want them, I'm not even angry that they are on by default. I just want a way to turn them off or down. I'm very much the type of person to either turn the HUD off or, in the case of games that allow modding, use a much more paired down version, because there is information I need and then there is information that is solely designed to keep me from feeling any friction. Well, that friction is how you feel like you accomplished something.

Exploration is hardly rewarding when the minimap tells me what I'll find when I get there.

Ah, just think of it as snail mail.

Just have a look at the forums. Anytime a developer leaves it up to the player to figure something out, there's this outburst of 'wurst gaem ever' 'what am I supposed to do' 'wher do i gow'.
Look at the Nemesis hate post: Dev brings in a new dynamic to the game that promotes thinking, assessing the scenario, employing different strategies and use of world items to distract and damage your targets.
And all they can say about the system is 'its garbage' 'its too hard', anything they can throw at the system and point blame rather than admit the obvious, which is they are too stupid for a game that is requiring a shred of thought.

So in summary, NO, we cant get rid of all the tools that keeps the mouthbreathers playing, because they simply outnumber us.

As mentioned, I'm just suggesting WE have the tools to disable them. I'm not against their existence, just having them forced upon me. Which is a perfectly valid request.

I'd love a setting option to turn off the HUD, minimap, parry trigger messages and so forth. I mean, even world of warcraft implemented F11 key to "Hide HUD", its pretty standar setting now days.

I mean....if you cared enough you could design a mod to enable you to toggle hints on or off, you could start an official petition if it keeps you up at night, or send an email to the developers themselves. But then again that would take effort and as a result we wouldn't get to see your passive-aggressive paragraph of superiority against 'casuals'. lol.
I was surprised after my first playthrough that the hud couldn't be disabled but then I realised it's not actually that big of a deal.

Do people like you get off on this? Your post hasn't improved the internet. You want to do that? Log off.

Do you "get off" on anonymous confrontations?
I would mock your hypocritical whining some more...
