I really need to be sure, I am planning to buy the game, but I don't want to finish the main story and then BOOM, credits and "start new game" or something like that....

You can continue playing after finishing the main story. All side quests/collect/nemesis stuff remains available, nothing changes after last mission.

Yes it is. You can continue to run around hunt/brand Captains and Warchiefs to your hearts content.

I was worried about this too.

I'm almost done with the story and only have 4 achievements (branding 5 bodyguards, getting an uruk to captain who killed me and then all the way to warchief, level 25 rune, and then killing 5 warchiefs before anyone can take their place [not counting 3 other story-mission based ones) left and didn't want to start all over.

Awesome I was worried about this too. Wanted to continue with the main story and then go back and collect a lot of artifacts etc if I miss them.

Name any open world game that doesn't let you continue exploring after the story is finished.

You can run around, but I don't have access to any of the legend missions or item thingies

I can't believe everyone in this thread is seriously just dead wrong. You can play but you'll lose all progress on achievements. You can't do any missions. It's just open is all.

I can't believe how wrong YOU are and that you haven't come back to correct your misinformation.

I just beat the game and have been playing all the side quests and missions for the past two hours after that.

The game even tells you that you can continue your progress after the final main mission.

I hope no one was scared away from finishing the game because of what you said.

wow this was an old thread. After 220+ hours, when I finished the true ending I was ready to put it away.

Even if you could not, there is the 'test of power' things that throw you in and give you an objective, like 'Kill 1 warchife and 6 captians in X amout of time' kind of thing, and you can use them to get the achivemnts anyway. IF you don't have the DLCs, I would suggest you grab them. The hunting one actully has really chalanging boss fights compared to the main game... lol
