Playing with Ultra HD textures made my PSU explode

I have a 780ti, i7-4790k CPU, 16 gb RAM and a 1000 W power Corsair power supply. My desktop is a mere two months old. I tried playing this game with the Ultra HD textures, and within an hour my computer's PSU let out a gunshot-like bang and everything went black. I managed to replace the PSU and everything works just fine, but I'm sure as hell staying away from this feature. Sheesh.

HD textures take up a lot more VRAM and add quiet a bit of load on your pc as well!! Will defo use more power but nowhere near to blow up ur PC haha. 1kW is a lot!

well I have never seen high textures require anymore gpu power. even take Crysis 3 and run from low to very high and there is no change other than increased vram usage.

anyway his psu was clearly defective as no game could make a properly functioning quality psu just blow up. this thread seems like just a silly troll as he would have to be an idiot to think hi res textures could blow up a power supply.

Please, tell me that you use Ultra HD Texture pack on Ultra HD screen... not on just Full HD.

The Corsair RM 1000 is known for having lower quality capacitors than other PSU's in it's class. Get a refund.

step up to the ax series from corsair.far better psu.it has absolutely no problems feeding cf 290x with a fx 9590 ;).. i use the ax1200i
