Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™

Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™

Statistiche:
Nvidia game doesn't start / launch Fix (atiadlxx.dll)
[Update]

So a little update because a lot of ppl mention that this works. Love the reply about WB telling ppl they wont be abble to play ... but yet they do.. :) (http://steamcommunity.com/app/241930/discussions/)

!Warning! This probably wont work with an ATI graphics card, it wil break your ATI driver.

[update 2]
I finally figured out what this file is :)
atiadlxx.dll is loaded as a .Net assembly module within the process CCC.exe (Catalyst Control Center by ATI Technologies Inc.).

Oke, so i had the problem that the game didn't start. On starting the game from shortcut or from steam, the game would appear to do nothing. On closer inspection the game (ShadowOfMordor.exe) would run for a few seconds then stop. In the eventlog you would see a Application error from ShadowOfMordor.exe

I discovered the last thing that is loaded is a AMD ati dll. I had a ATI video card before, but not anymore (Nvidia GTX 660 now). All ATI drivers are uninstalled (or so i think). The DLL is C:\Windows\System32\atiadlxx.dll. rename this to atiadlxx.dll.bak and my game started.
I have since discovered that you can actually rename the file back after 1st play. When the config files are written it doesn't try to load this file again.

You may also try the cfg file fixes as described here (http://segmentnext.com/2014/09/30/middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-errors-crashes-tweaks-and-fixes/).

if anything more comes up ill let you know.

Yeah I've been google searching but so many things can cause that ntdll.dll error it's almost impossible to know from here how to fix that. Ranging from software issues to hardware issues. Hopefully someone else will come along that had that problem and fixed it can help you.

Sometimes when it is best to do a clean sweep of your HD and a fresh OS install, but that's the last thing I guess you want to do. Anyways keep it in mind as a last resort.

I'm sorry, I tried mate.

Thanks for trying bud

"Wait a minute... did you have a Nvidia GPU in that machine before and recently upgraded with a AMD GPU?"

No, the other way around. I had a ATI and now i have Nvidia. I think its part of the old ATI driver.
Its probably not a fix if you actually have a ATI card, as the game might actually need that file :).

Now there may be too parts to this fix im not sure.

First i tried the cfg file fixes as described here (http://segmentnext.com/2014/09/30/middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-errors-crashes-tweaks-and-fixes/). Now ive used procmon to check what the game is actually doing and found that it looks for the render.cfg and settings.cfg in the user folder. Ive placed these 2 files (didn't need game.ini) in both the game folder and my user settings folder (see link).

Again the game wouldn't run with this. The last thing i discovered is that it also loaded a AMD ati dll. Ive had a ATI video card in this setup before, but all drivers are uninstalled (or so i think). I use Nvidea now. The DLL is C:\Windows\System32\atiadlxx.dll. rename this to atiadlxx.dll.bak and my game started! Now i can finaly see the intro :), lets hope all else works like charm now....

!!Warning!! im not sure what exactly atiadlxx.dll does, Google didn't tell me much, and i havent rebooted yet :). This may break some stuff. In that case rename it back :). Worked for me anyway, so i thought i share :).

if anything more comes up ill let you know.
