Try this to fix crashes
Try right click the game from steam go to properties> verify integrity of game cache. Mine said 3 files failed, and now steam is updating Shadow of Mordor. Please let me know if it works. I hope it helps!

Right now when I right click Shadow of Modor and choose "Manage Downloads" its updating the game 400mb of 8gb. Now the game is 34gb and I downloaded the game completely so I wonder if something got corrupt who knows I hope it helps everyone. I feel everyones pain I am in the same boat trying to get this game to work.

I've been having regular crashes after 60 to 90 minutes. Tried verifying game cache but no files were missing.

My game freezes when the first loading screen of the game is presented after they take his wife and then the cut scene. Ctrl+alt+delete doesn't even end the Shadow of Morder.exe, it says access is denied. So maybe (I'm hoping) in my case, the game was just incomplete in downloading all the files, and this 8gb its downloading all of a sudden will fix those gaps. I can run benchmarks no problems and everything else. I can't even get 60-90 minutes into this game let alone 30 minutes so consider yourself one of the lucky ones:)

Yea. I feel sorry for you man.
I really hope they will address the fact that so many has had issues with the game crashing or not working at all and fix it.

Thanks man. If it is an Nvidia issue then I am sure they will be working on it ASAP if the aren't already. It makes Nvidia look bad. I have a feeling a game patch will come out soon if this 8gb of whatever that is downloading now doesn't do the trick. This honestly one of the main reasons I don't purchase pc games when they first come out. They rush the game out to meet the release deadline and don't fix technical issues until after game release. Not always the case but you never know. The main reason I bought this game was because greenmangaming had it for 38.00, and also I was impressed with the reviews on websites and youtube reviews as well.

Just to confirm this fixed the game for me so far so good. I am super happy and surprised this actually worked.

Unfortunately, still didn't fix mine. I've pretty much tried every fix out there so far now. :/ I'm really hoping they release a patch that may be able to aid in whatever is causing them. Throughout my fixes I managed to shift in what sort of crashes I was receiving. At first, they were straight to desktop with the Nvidia card 'recovering'. Now, there's no recovering indication, it's just black screen with music (USUALLY right after entering combat, but sometimes I can get through a few fights without a crash) and then the game becomes unresponsive and I have to use the task manager to do anything. I'd still muddle through it if I could save where I wanted and just keep retrying from that point, but I'm tired of trying the same quests over and over and getting mostly done and then a crash. I AM glad that some people are solving their issues through verifying the cache though. That's one of the least exasperating fix attempts and it's awesome of you to try to help!
