Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™

How casual is this in comparison to Dark Souls?
Looks a bit too casual and easy.

It's like Batman nothing in common with the Dark Souls

Ah k so super casual. Damn that's unfortunate.
The only real difficulty in this is the game throwing wave after wave of men at you, at the same time. When you die in a Souls game, it's because the game hates you. When you die in this, it's becaue you did something stupid.
well the nemsis system allows you to make targets you want harder by dying to them and fast tracking time so they get ranks faster further into the game you can send death threats to enemys to allow them to train for your arrival if you do all of this you might even make it a challenge for yourself.
Game plays like assasins creed and batman all bundled into one game skinned in middle earth attire. Not a bad thing pretty decent for a middle earth fan.
u dont die, unless u just fall asleep from having to counter attack every second. then u die and its ur fault.
Some of the encounters with large waves of different types of enemies can be a bit of a challenge. Especially against captains if you died a lot early on to try and get higher tier runes. I doubt it is anywhere near Dark Souls. Probably more like Witcher 2 (not highest difficulty Witcher 2).

Most fights though are most just a rhythm game. Hit hit hit, parry if needed, hit hit, special attack, etc. Only fights that seem to be any challenge so far are ones with hunters, shield guys, berserkers (which counter attack you if you accidentally hit them) and normal uruks. Try and just spam attack and the zerks will counter. Getting shot at you need to be ready to dodge. Shields mean you need to jump over them. Just a lot of things going on. Worst was a shield captain that threw me every time I tried to jump over him so I had to kill all of his buddies and just drain him to death.

Fun if you like killing lots of orcs. But very repeatitive.Unless you can admire the story, voice acting, etc it will probably get boring quickly. A nice twist to existing ideas but not quite as innovative as Monolith would have you believe.
definitely nowhere near as tough as dark souls.
Still fun however.
It's the same exact battle system that you see in Batman. Even most of the combos are done with the same buttons that you use in the arkham series.

Thank you! This is the most cohesive take on the game I've read. After 15 hours, I'm inclined to agree. The boss fights seemed to be cool for a moment but after 30 such encounters, it's like you've seen them all. So there is a lot of repetition. Myself, I've decided to just flee Orc attacks instead of slogging it out cause it is a slow and boring grind.
It seems like all open world games I've played suffer from repetition. Watch Dogs was really cool for me but towards the end, you could see the amount of repetition in the types of missions, especially if you were playing the side missions as well. Are other open world games like this too?

If you die in Dark Souls it certainly is because you did something stupid. Saying otherwise means you need to get better at it.

No, it's because you didn't know ahead of time what to expect. Now, dying on your second playthrough only happens as a result of stupidity.

It's the Arkham games' combat combined with Assassin's Creed level traversal and some light RPG elements thrown in.

In other words: casual sauce.

Same thing. Regardless you claimed if you die it's because the game hates you. Which is nonsense.

What, like not roll and abuse i-frames for the one millionth time? Not dodge the homing vertical attacks with multiples the hit-box size of the actual animated weapon being used? Getting hit through level geomtery? Falling off a ledge both your feet were securely perched upon just after floating in mid-air off of another ledge...?

Ah... I see. You're dense. =)
