Seems the way right now is 2.1 but then i can just use my DT770 headset.
Can you provide your settings? Are you using a receiver or just a plug and play system?
Home Theater is using an optical cable from the receiver to the sound card (Xonar D2X) - it's running in Dolby Live. All channels work fine.
My headset is a dolby headset which is technically software, as it only has two speakers, but it still receives the data from traditional surround sound and all channels work there. It's a Logitech G930 which is USB / built in sound card.
A good place to check is when Talion's wife is humming at the start of the game.
Edit: My signal info from my receiver shows the game is sending 2.0 PCM.
Go to configuration screen -> sound -> Select Receiver -> configure it as 2.1/stereo -> Use Surround decoding on receiver for 5.1. (Dolby Pro Logic II Game/DTS?)
It works for me but its not the same as real 5.1 ofc (Using Yamaha rx-v375)
Check for more options: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Pro_Logic#Dolby_Pro_Logic_II
I don't use optical for my pc games because sometimes pc games don't recognize it as true 5.1. However, they do recognize analog 5.1 pretty darn good.
Thanks for that link btw. Good info there.
so basically you're saying to just use pro logic or neo:6 and just deal with it? thats essentially what a surround sound headset is doing right?
I think that is what he's saying. Basically using a sound decoder to emulate 5.1.
