Last Chance mode near impossible
Okay, so I've been doing a lot of dying. The main reason being when I go into the last chance mode; they L stick circle just doesn't move fast enough to get into the circle. And when it does get in, I have so little time left it rarely recognises me jamming the given button.

I'm playing on my laptop which isn't good for gaming anymore, but my desktop rig is 32bit. Is there any way to make the stick move into the circle quicker? The lag just makes it impossible.

if your hardware is preventing you from playing the game correctly it's time to upgrade

If your controller is not going fast enough, change the sensitivity. Avail in the options mode.

I usually play these kinds of games with a gamepad, but for Shadow of Mordor I prefer m&k. The last chance/caragor quicktime event as well as when some captains get a second chance is much easier with a mouse I think.

I'll try it tomorrow, cheers.

Be sure to have a look at the keybindings when you do, there are some.. unorthodox choices in there (e.g. space for running)

Also right click blocks AND aims bow. Controller splits this.
Okay... I'll end up doing what I do for all RPG's and mapping them to be similar to the latest Elder Scrolls game ;)

It should be allmost impossible ,it should be hard. you have lost and are almost dead. this can't be just some "I WIN" button.

You haven't bothered to read the thread. It's not mechanically difficult, it's difficult because the lag on my laptop doesn not register my input quickly enough.

The issue I am constantly funning into is that after upgrading it if I don't manage to hit that tiny little circle in the middle I will fail and die, but not all the time. It's incredibly inconsistent and very frustrating, also time and time again I will land the "button" right smackdab in the center, hit the appropriate button and die well before the timer has run out. Sadly I am getting to the point where I am about to just stop trying the last chance finisher.

I play with a controller, as I think most people should when dealing with arkham style combat, I'm sure they've done a good job translating it to M/KB, but it is clearly BUILT with a controller in mind, the freeflow system is basically a rhythm game, and with a controller it's much easier to get into a zone with it. Aiming with a bow is a little trickier on a controller but still perfectly playable. and moving about is ideal, analog directional control and all that.

But yes, I can confirm that the last chance is almost unwinnable with a controller, the circle moves as if through treacle. I thought it was meant to be that hard, but then I saw totalbiscuit's video of the game and it was a case of move mouse at normal speed into the area, click button, so obviously this is a controller sensitivity issue, and I do not know if there is an option to change the move speed for JUST this circle QTE (moving/aiming sensitivity is otherwise fine).

And I am running at an average of about 60 fps, with highs and lows here and there, and it has ZERO effect on the input for this mechanic, so it isn't his hardware so much as they either made it too easy for mouse input, or too hard for controller input, depending on what they actually intended. I suspect on consoles the controller input is much faster and just never came up in QA on the pc version, maybe they had one person playing with a controller and during the last chance event, also assumed it was just meant to be that slow...

but it IS very slow, which has resulted in me dying far more times than I care to admit... The problem is, you die once to this, the enemy gets stronger next time, meaning it's more likely you will die again, it's a pretty vicious cycle, I hope it recognises a change in input immediately so if I get it again I can grab the mouse and simlpy point and click my way out of it, but it's pretty sad and hopefully gets fixed ASAP, it's an otherwise awesome game! (I just wish there were slightly more areas with less enemies, and maybe a bit more free exploration without fighting hundreds of orcs and uruks in one go, everywhere you go! It's never ending combat, and as much as I love it, it gives me a bit of combat fatigue, I think batman has a much better pacing...)

I'm having exactly the same problem, its almost impossible to dominate graugs like this, especially as you die instantly if you don't suceed in the last part of the qte (maybe before but its easy until you get to that "circle" part.

Also I realised that sometimes the progress on the last chance seems to be bumping ahead, many times I got killed when the circle was only filled by 3/4 and I pressed the correct button. The game just went like "yeah, you know what, ♥♥♥♥ you" and bam I got killed.

Its so incredibly frustrating that I'm short of stopping to play this game. Either make the mechanic work correctly or don't bother implementing it at all. Its hard enought to get it working with a controller due do the incredibly slow speed of the cursor, but if I actually manage to get it in time I don't wanna be killed randomly anyway.

I haven't even gotten to dominating stuff yet (I suspect I am close to it by now), because I spent the early game trying to disrupt the ranks of sauron's army, but when trying to take out a captain, I get all up in there perfectly stealthy, then he would be stood with a bunch of grunts who I couldn't NOT be spotted by, so no problem right, I'll just fight them... then another captain gets word and joins the fight with his mates, and then another and another, I've had five captains fighting me at once, more than once, so I might just survive a last chance against one, and then get immediately thrown into another by another captain... so now, all the easy targets are right up in the top tiers of captains, all because I am forced to fight hundreds more enemies than I intended and I didn't survive the last chances due to not using a mouse (literally the only reason).

but yes, it moves too slowly to have any fair chance at winning it, even pushing the analog stick fully and directly at the target, sometimes it won't even touch the edge of the circle before time runs out and you just die. Given the number of enemies you can end up fighting at once, I absolutely appluade the addition of last chance (it should never be put in batman for example, those fights are always controlled and easily winnable), this just seems to be an oversight and should be fixed. I suspect we could change the value ourselves through a config or ini file, but I wouldn't know where to start, if anyone could help that would be great!
Mouse n keyboard for the win sir... its a ♥♥♥♥♥ at first, once you master it though is cake. The game is WAY too easy. I can sit in the middle of a fortress forever just murdering everyone that comes along.
