Need Tech help "DirectX11 features not supported by the installed video device"
Trying to help a friend run the game.

I already looked and his mobo is an asus p5n-d and does not have an onboard integrated graphics card to disable. His NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 supports dx11. Any idea how to fix the "DirectX11 features not supported by the installed video device" issue? Should he wait for a patch or is his set up not good enough to run the game?

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250

Thanks again for the help

Actually, that card does NOT support DX 11, hence the message.

Check it out for yourself at Newegg's product page, under specs

hmm will have to go find his box, but he was adament that it did. His DxDiag showed that he had Dx11 running.

I'm also pretty sure that is a DX 10 card. I used to own one aswell many years ago.
So I'm afraid it won't work for your friend.

He has DX11 installed, and it'll show that's it's on his card, but a 250 certainly doesn't support DX11.

Indeed, I just verified. The card does not actually support dx11. Thanks again for the help!

Yes!, the operating system has DX11 installed but the card most definitely does NOT support DX11. Moreover, that card is way below the minimum requirement spec.

indeed my friend has learned a valuable lesson today. Read the required specs before you buy!

Hahaha, well, at least he will remember this lesson for the rest of his life!

That video card is not good enough, period.

9800 GT is a DX9 card only.

you have the same problem; your gpu does not support dx 11 and is not powerful enough anyway. good job you didn't buy it yet, innit?
well ♥♥♥♥, im not into techy ♥♥♥♥ so i had to ask.. is changing a graphics card enough to do the job for me or do i have to change some more stuff??

Upgrading your graphics card will allow you to run DX11 games. Your quadcore should still be good enough, not sure it wouldn't bottleneck highend graphics cards though. 4GB RAM seems pretty low. Consider upgrading to 6-8GB, especially if you're still running DDR2. Make sure to run a 64bit version of Windows if you use more than 4GB. Also make sure your motherboard can handle the amount of RAM. Overall it might be easier to build a new PC. I'm guessing yours is a midrange PC from about 5 years ago?
