Game is so slow it's unplayable
Even in the menu there is significant lag. I've toyed around with all the settings, but no matter what it's crazy slow. I have a decent computer, and never usually have problems running games on max settings. Any suggestions?

Specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Video Card 1: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Video Card 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Memory: 16 GB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

Are you sure it doesnt run on your 4000 HD graphics (I am not sure if its CPU's integrated card so dont laugh at me)? that is really strange, GTX660 should run this game on high+-

I don't know what game you're playing but it sure doesn't sound like the one I've been playing.

First make sure you are actually using the correct video card. It should actually show it in the options menu in the right hand corner. Sometimes on-board cards have a nasty habit of popping up and trying to take over your installed card.

The only other thing I can think of is spyware/malware eating up your computer's resources. Have you done a scan latley?

Go to the nVidia control panel and change the preferred graphics card setting from "Auto-select" to "nVidia graphics".

Disable your Intel HD Graphics. Oh and try medium settings first.

Make sure the game is using the GTX and not the intergrated card.

I had the same problem, when my laptop was plugged in it ran great, but unplug and it turned down. Wasn't a battery performance issue. Had to add the game to the 3d settings of my Card and now it's running fine unplugged and all.

You're welcome. May the force be with you!

This game is one of the best optimized games in this year in my opinion. I can play on high settings+1080p without any fps drops.

I'm having the same problem, except I have an AMD APU (A10-5800K) and Radeon 7870 graphics card. All other games run fine, but SoM gives me <1 FPS just on the menu screen. Is there an AMD equivalent to this?
Mikkel Nov 10, 2014 @ 7:39pm
I'm on a desktop, but I actually found the problem. For some reason the game defaulted to "200%" resolution. With some patience, I was able to make it into the graphics settings and change this to 100% (1080p), after which it ran fine.

Thanks for the help.

Ultra on a 660? What kind of FPS do you get?
