Just Found the Saved Data Location!
Hey guys, I've been trying to find this for ages, haven't seen anyone else post about the location of the game's saved data online. This file includes game settings, keybinds, and saved progress. Monolith made an incredibely bad decision saving the game data outside of "My Documents\WB Games\Shadow Of Mordor".

Location (Default Steam Directory): "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\20005476\241930\remote\gamedata.sav"

Hope this helps somebody out, wasted a bunch of my time trying to find this. It really should have been saved alongside the graphical user settings.

Thank you very much XD

Thank you. In my experience with previous games that utilize this constant autosave feature (like the AC franchise), all it takes is one random crash to wipe out hours and hours of progress. Always good to know where the save is.

So technically....that would've been the save file from whenever the game last saved before my game froze forcing me to hard reset my pc? And if so...how would I go about having the game use it anyways?

Yeah, it would be the last save prior to the current game session. I suppose pasting into the exact location after deleting the old one is what I would try. I'm not sure it would work, tbh, but by golly it's better than nothing. I wish this game used a more traditional save system so it would make data backup much simpler.

What a ridiculous save location. My household has 4 accounts on the same PC. And only 2 of us can play this game because it doesn't save to your profile, like games have been doing since Vista came out.

Thanks for this. I've now made a shortcut to desktop to the location.
I will also save that file each time I end a non-crashed game session :)

If you want to back it up? Anywhere.

i save the file in (x86)\Steam\userdata\20005476\241930\remote\gamedata.sav"
and it doesent save the progress of the game is still 0%

Thank you for saving me time! I successfully copied the save game to another computer and it worked right off the bat. Had to select the right save from the main menu before starting the game (by default a new game was selected).

That number 20005476 is only that number for the OP's system, it is a unique number on each person's system.

No, where do we save it to to get the game to recognize it?

THANK YOU OP!!!

just moved my steam folder last night without checking on this...and yeap, by following Valve's instructions i LOST MY SAVE FILE...i don't blame Valve though, this is an absurdly stupid place for a game to keep a save file

thankfully had not gone very far into the game so not a disaster
