I have an AMD Radeon 4800 series

I think, AMD-Cards support DirectX11 from 5000 series. Your card has no DirectX11, too old.
i had a 4800 se in 2001 thats sorta old now was great then

Well at least you know there will be no garbage on your computer/system after doing that, hope it works.

I was able to get the game to work after I got this message on a win7 64-bit nvidia geforce 9600 GT. Should work with other DX11 games

Download the Windows SDK here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/hardware/hh852363.aspx

Says SDK is for 2008 but works on Win 7.

After install, go to your start button and search for dxcpl.exe and launch.

Select the "Edit List.." button and navigate to your game executable.

Mine was at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ShadowOfMordor\x64\ShadowOfMordor.exe

Select "Add" and "OK" to close the window.

At the bottom of the main window, select the "Force WARP" checkbox.

On the "Feature level limit:" dropdown to the left select "11_1".

Select "OK" and enjoy your game or cry because your system sucks horribly and runs at a unplayable framerate.

This fix works for me, though still unplayable my graphics card is just to old haha, nvidia geforce gt 130m :) . Was able to run the game, just very very very slow and choppy. The cut scences/ videos in the beginning ran perfectly fine, but couldnt deal with the actual gameplay being that slow. Anyway this does work for those of you wondering.

your video card does not support directX 11, that is exactly what your error says and is exactly what your video card does not does. http://www.radeon.com/HD4800.html

Did you check the available solutions that I or others posted most recently? As I mentioned earlier (and linked a solution in my post) my problem was the registry not being properly set up by WB games to detect my DX11 compatible card.

While your PC has DX11 installed, your graphics adapter is too old to use it. Even if it could the game wouldn't be playable anyway. It is way too slow for this game.

Hey guys. When i try to open the Shadow of Mordor game it says the same thing. But i really don't understand a thing about computers. My Grafic Card is Intel(R) HD Graphics Family . Help. I don't know what DirectX 11 is and i am really confused. I just know that i paid 37.4 euros for it... I am s sad. It was my Christmas gift for me. Do I need to buy another pc?

"Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms." - Wikipedia

The Game-Developers programmed the game with DirectX in version 11 (in a few years 12 will be standard), so you need a graphic card which supports it.
Even if your integrated graphic chip could use directX11, it would be to weak to run the game properly. Those graphic chips are good for doing office work or for normal use (Writing, emails, videos, internet) but thats it. If you lucky, you can run old games on it.

Soooo, yes -> You should buy a graphic card suited for pc-gaming. But keep in mind, that you also need a good CPU and enough main memory. I don't know if your computer would be better by just adding a good gaming card.

My advice: If you are not interested about how a computer works / what do you need for gaming on computer and you have no friend with some knowledge about it, go and get a console.

On a console you dont have to be worry about all this requirements a pc-game has.

I spoke generally about graphic chips. I have to admit there are graphic chips made for gaming, but usually those gaming laptops / complete PC's are overpriced. In a "normal" pc or laptop you won't find a good chip in it. Mostly manufacturer try to save some bucks somewhere with their laptops / complete PC's.
