Clicking "Play" on steam...Nothing
"preparing to launch...."

Then it just returns to steam and does nothing.

UPDATE: GOT HER WORKING! (please note this fix will not work for everyone)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjhC7sAaU5c

This is for users with this error

http://puu.sh/bUqJ7/74c7d90c0b.png

when they try to run the shadowofmordor.exe from the game files.

Basically I went into

Steam\steamapps\common\ShadowOfMordor\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010

Ran both the VCredist executible files and I selected "Remove" instead of "Repair"

Once I had removed both I simply reinstalled both from the same executibles and that allowed me to run the exe from the game files and it worked!

The repair option for some reason did nothing for me.

The issue seems to be related to the vcredist installation.

I will forward this to the devs.

EDIT:

A fix that may work for some

If the previous fix did not work.
Go to C:\Users\username\Documents\WB Games\Shadow of Mordor

If it doesn't exist, create the folders in the file path.

https://mega.co.nz/#!XYpFTaYb!b9sb2zC6k9BF2_w6RAdh8kTHAoaggOJVTd8thT5PtAU

Download these files and place them into the "Shadow of Mordor" Folder within that file address.

Then Try running the game.

NOTE: You should try applying BOTH fixes.

People have also found that a Selective startup also works when disabling all other services except your graphics driver and steam (Obviously DO NOT disable windows services on startup).

UPDATE:

As an absolute final resort I managed to get my game completely working by formating my drives and doing a fresh instal of Windows 7 down from 8.1.

This worked for me and should only be used as a last resort if you cannot get the game working.

I am going to unsub from the thread now and hopefully people can get their game working with the fixes listed.

The error I am getting is "Unable to locate component" "MSVCR100.dll was not found" when I try to run the game directly from the x64 exe. If I just try to play it from steam it just says "preparing to launch" and crashes. I tried most of the solutions I could find in this thread, and the problem persists.

Try repairing the vcredist_64.exe. Click to run it, if it prompts to Repair, do that. Exit Steam completely, then reboot Steam. Next, run the ShadowofMordor.exe as Admin. Did you try that?

I'm currently speaking with WB games' support through emails. Takes some time for them to answer, but I finally got answer, and they told me to:

go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ShadowOfMordor\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010

Double-click both of the VCredist executable files in this folder and select "Remove".

After this process finishes, double-click the VCredist files again to install them.

After this finishes try running the game again. If it still fails to launch, try closing Steam entirely and then right-clicking your Steam shortcut and selecting "Run as Administrator".

I had obviously already tried that, but tried again anyway with no luck. I then sent them my info. Will update you if they send me something useful.

Anyone still having the BEX64 problem? Where you start it (either through steam or the .exe file or literally however) and it says Shadow of Mordor has stopped working almost immediatly. The message also says you can look online (useless) or just close the program. That's the problem I've had the whole time, I just got my dxdiag sent to WB so if I get any help I'll let you guys know.
And my specs are Windows 7
Amd Phenom IIx4 820 Processor 2.80 Ghz
Gtx 660 gpu
8 bg ram
64 bit os
700bg hard drive.

I'm getting the BEX64 error in the Event Viewer as well, so you're not alone! Tried all of the fixes proposed on here and still no dice :(

Considering they havent mentioned anything in 2 days despite massive amounts of people with the same problem Id on't think things look very good for us.
Edeet 1/out./2014 às 13:20
They send me the empty message, prob as solution. :D
Octored 1/out./2014 às 13:21
I'm also only getting a black screen upon launch; none of the fixes worked. Windows 7 (64bit), 8GB Ram, AMD Radeon HD 6800, AMD Phenom x6...
Denial Boy 1/out./2014 às 13:22
