slow download speeds

is anyone else with good internet downloading pretty slow rightnow? im sitting at 600kbs :\

While steam is pretty good server wise, pretty sure a few online stores have been very recently sending out keys so I imagine there could be traffic load going on?

That or it's just typical internet issues.

I know that my preload stopped at 13.8GB. If it's capped at that before midnight, I will be a very sad individual.

Edit: Ok, restarted my client and it picked up again. However, it is only going 1.6MB per sec which is very slow for my connection.

I know right? 34 gigs? sheesh if I knew it was that bad, I probably would have gotten it on disc instead.

Did you restart steam client? my preload was in the area of about 34gb or so, steam used to "pause" downloads randomly for me and I'd have to restart client and mess around with the download order to get them going again but haven't had it for a while.

I just downloaded it about an hour ago, downloaded at a constant 11mbps and was done in about an hour.

It may be your internet maybe? I know when I was on 50 mbps service steam downloaded stuff at about 6 mbps. Now that i'm bumped up to 105 service it goes at around 11.

But who knows, so many variables that can mess with it.

Yup, restarted and it is going again as my edit above stated. However, it is going slowly. Likely due to many others downloading the same title.

Mine's "steaming" along at 3.4 to 3.8MB/S, which is about normal for me.

In the past when I had a REALLY bad speed, I just kept changing the download region until I found one that had descent speed.

In the Steam client, under Steam,settings, downloads, download region.

It will require steam to be re-started every time you change the region, however.

Try changing your download server to something different - I use St. Louis for this reason, they tend to have less load because they aren't mainstream like Chicago, Dallas, etc... Pulling 8.7 MB/s steady down right now.

Mine said it was encrypted as well when I first entered in the key in steam, but then I checked my library and Shadows of Mordor was there and had the preload button. Try that and see if it is there.

just pre loaded, took my 50 minutes to download the entire game.

Yeap downloaded 0 of 0 megabytes. When I purchsed it, then shows the "pre-load" button where the "Play" button usually is. When I click "pre-load" it says "Content is still encrypted". I just "Deleted Local Content" on it and then found it in my uninstalled games and told it to Pre-Load from there and it's downloading data now.

Content is still encrypted because the game isnt released yet. If you go to "Manage Downloads" it will show you that it is fully downloaded. At least mine does anyway.
