i don't think so
I think it will. I also had a Core 2 Duo with 2 * 3,3 GHz, Overclocked to 3,6 GHz and I ran AC:Blackflag and a lot of other games at high fps.
Shadow of Mordor is a singleplayer game. Normally, in singleplayer games the GPU is more important than the CPU because there are not so many things happening like in Multiplayer games (Multiplayer= more players, more units, more stats ---> a lot more work for the CPU)

I think the recommended Specs mentioned for this game are higher than they are in reality.
With a bit of overclocking and a good GPU you will be able to play this game decently.

Just my opinion.

Anyway, a quad core would be worth a thought.

Thank you very much. I think so too. My GPU 570 (1280mb).
Coincendentally, my main gaming rig is a Core I5 750 that I built many years ago. I also have two other machines that are both E8400 (Optiplex 755s) with 7750 video cards. The I5 750 DESTROYS them, it is much much more powerful.

I do not think you will run a game that calls an I5 750 the minimum on a C2D E8400. Sorry.

Possible.)) Then wait for the release and buy afterwards. Maybe someone and go on this processor (or similar).

This is wrong, in SP games the CPU must calculate mutliple A.I. actors with their path-finding and everything, scripted events etc, which are very taxing. In MP there is no AI, it just renders the position of a "net pointer".

Absolutely YES, don't listen to someone that don't know anything about pc tech or have not tested the game, my friend has a core 2 duo and is playing this game without problem on medium-high settings.

There are also plenty of YT vid that confirm this.
