Screen tearing even with Capped FPS and Vsync [SOLVED]
What could be happening? I'm running on Ultra-everything but tried some tweaks to no avail.

I've got a GTX 970 and 16 Gb RAM.

Dunno why, but had the same problem. Have an Nvidia GTX 780 Ti. Fast and simple fix: play in borderless window (check ingame options menue).

I have the GTX 970 GPU and AMD 4.2Ghz quad core CPU and I run it great everything Ultra and the HD texture pack no Vsync no screen tearing at 1680x1050

I play at 1920x1080, and also the HD pack, I forgot to mention.

The tearing especially appears when viewing the map, but also occasionally when in normal play.

well its working for me, and I'm running the same graphics card and with Vsync on i was also getting Screen Tearing but turning it off fixed the issue so i was just giving him my 5 cents.
There is no need to be rude if you think something else is causing this please elaborate.
vsync NEVER can cause tearing. if there is tearing with vsync enabled then that means vsync is NOT working. and if you dont see tearing with vsync off then you are not very perceptive. so again nothing you said was logical.

I have not really looked into it but this game may use a "smart" aka adaptive vsync so when enabled it uses vsync when hitting refresh rate and disables it on the fly when dropping below it.

They broke vsync two updates ago. Force it through gpu.

Yes, I'm trying that. Just turned it off from the game and will force-activate from the Nvidia control panel. Hope that works...

Well, as i said IT IS WORKING FOR ME, just trying to help. I turned Vsync OFF and no tearing!! I know a fair share about computers and I am not so blind as to not notice Tearing. I see the tearing with Vsync on and i dont see it with it off.
I know Vsync is supposed to fix any screen tearing but in this case it seems to be the cause of it, at least for me.
And as for not calling me very 'perceptive' you seem to not really have a grasp as to what that really means. You most obviously dont have any insight about whats going on when I play the game as otherwise you wouldnt say that it is not logical. Its working for me so it is most definitley not illogical.
maybe you have trouble with simple words and or context as I correctly used "perceptive" in what I said to you.

I disabled frame limit and vsync in game and then forced it on in the nvidia control panel. That fixed it for me. You can also run it in borderless windowed mode and that should fix it as well.

This worked for me and solved the issue. Thank you!

Same here, but did not need to run in bordeless windowed mode.

The solution thus was:

1.- Disable Vsync from the game, enable limitless FPS, exit game. All settings maxed, no change.

2.- Force Vsync from Nvidia control panel.

3.- Restart game, no tearing at all.

I hope this works for someone else down the road. Thanks guys!

GUYS to fix this ploblem put the MAX FPS to No Limit that it because the VSync already have a FPS limit in it so...
LewdGeek Dec 23, 2017 @ 4:38pm
If you have VSync activate like me put Max FPS to No Limits and everything should be fine

Thank you so much i know this post is old and all but i just bought a new monitor ultra wide and i was having screen tearing issues. i think it was because i had it on adaptive and then i had vsync enabled in game which caused me to drop a ton of frames.
