Why do I have to ask this but, Save feature?
So I finally got around to playing after buying this two months ago and im a little irritated with combat but it's still really fun and end up playing six hours straight.
I'm amazed at all the detail and how the game tells you about the graphics setting and does all this stuff right.

Except tell you how to save your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
Every single game I have ever played, modern ones at least, ahve ALWAYS asked, "quit without saving?" Except this one.
I have been excited to play it all day but had to get stuff down. Now I load it up and NO PROGRESS SAVED?!
No autosave? nothing?! I've lost ALL my progress?! No prompt to save didn't even see an option in the menu!

I've played games for years I can't be that stupid that I missed it I'm not the kind to skip cutscenes even, at least not my first play through.
SO, what the frak?!

There is autosave. Any time I quit, the game always allows me to continue later right where I left off. When I quit out to desktop, I always do so inbetween missions and never while on one.

Then why the hell do I not have my progress..... The only save mentioning I see is right at the first menu where you select from two save slots. Do I have to do that first cause every other game has done that automatically. :S

Not sure what the issue could be. When I first played I just... well, played, Everything ran great and autosaved.

You played for 6 hours, selected quit game in the menu, quit to desktop, and you lost 6 hours progress? Doesnt sound right at all.

Yes that's exactly what happened and no it doesnt sound right at all.
I selected my outfit, selected play, quit and then came back tonight and no progress.

Save is working now I think but still, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth which is sad cause despite combat being a bit difficult and not being as hacky slashy as i normally like (but not a hack and slash game so that's fine) I really like this game.

Just to be clear, when you tried to resume you selected Play/continue game correct? You dont pick the save slots.

I cannot share that opinion.
However, I beated Arkham Asylum on highest difficulty setting so probably I'm just good trained ^^

Im not the best at video games. Im pretty average, almost always play normal difficulty. I RARELY play hard but try to avoid easy when I can.

Well the combat is basically rythem based and not reflex/action based. There are skills you can earn that reward you if you press an attack button once instead of button mashing, by making your hits stronger. (when timed correctly.)

Also combat becomes significantly easier as time goes on- I found an epic rune for my sword that increased strength on EVERY SINGLE sword strike by 50 percent. Needless to say it felt OP as hell.

Also, stun (b button on controller) into flurry seemed like one of the best ways to charge execution strikes (glowing sword) earlier on.

Use the environment and keep an eye out for explosive barrels, fires will explode when shot too, (makes no logical sense lol?) bee nests, caragor cages, and loose pieces of walls to shoot out.

I hate how im constantly getting my fluries inteurrpted but granted im surrounded but bleh. I get the hit Y prompt a lot but even though i hit it i still get hit. i mean granted im alrerady swinging but soemtimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

I guess i just need to level up and get more skills. do wish i didnt have to beat generic orcs like ten time with my sword before they die. as often as im in big grounds you would think they would go down easier. :S

You can continue your flurry, even after a Y button counter to a different opponent. Use left analog stick to strike in the direction you want. So:

>fighting 5 orcs<
- stun orc A
-proceed with flurry
-Orc B attacks from behind
- press Y to counter
-move analog stick back toward orc A and continue flurry combo with X
-repeat if neccessary.

Any attack can be cancelled into a counter.

Oh, and i hate when im trying to finish one off but i switch to attacking another.
I've always had an issue with button time where a button has more then one function and because i guess i dont give it a moment it does one thing when I want to do another. x.x
bleh minor complaints from someone who sucks at gaming.

But I just need to play and get better and kill orcs and find some good captains to promote.

Ever play the Batman games? Assassin's Creed? Very similar combat. I find that it helps to think of the group of orcs you're fighting as one large mob rather than a bunch of separate enemies. What I mean is that, with the exception of higher-priority targets like captains, archers, etc., don't worry about killing individual orcs; get a hit streak going by just timing your attacks and countering every time you can. When you build up a hit streak you'll do more damage, then you can start thinking about finishing grounded opponents (if you have an opening) or doing executions. Pull off an execution and you'll scare a few orcs off, thinning the herd and making the fight easier.

Also, your normal attacks don't really do that much damage. Think of it more as a tool to build up a hit streak. It'll take you forever to just normal attack an orc to death; you're really trying to stun them, knock them down, or build up enough juice for an execution or wraith stun or something like that.

Finally, re: saving. It definitely autosaves when you go to a forge tower. When I'm done playing I fast-travel to one of those before I quit, and I never lose any progress. It autosaves elsewhere as well, but I know that always works.

I think there was an issue with it selecting the save and I didn't know cause every game i've ever played just takes care of it and is always. "this games autosaves. dont give in to the urge to yank your pc's power cord from the wall whenever it saves!"

i never found an interest in assassin's creed, got bored of batman (partially cause i have so much else to play and im not a sneaky kind of guy) and batman origins was too glitchy. keyboard functions didnt always work and crocc dissapeared with trhe controller plugged it.

I totally get what you're saying about the combat, it just feel half the time i hit Y whenever it pops up that it does nothing.
Or I hit b to drop down and it just punches the air. I tell him to go to the left but because the camera is slightly off her wall shimmies to the right.
I hate how I love this game but it has me cussing a lot over the little ♥♥♥♥ like the controls being to sensitive and me not being patient and then my controller is stuck in my wall.
lol maybe not that last part but still.

Great game just requires patience, whatever that is.

Just hope I get some good commanders. The mute I had on my first playthrough was so creepy i thought he was going to molest me!!!!

Don't take them on all at a time. Learn to fight, see a group of 6, stealth kill the first, head shot the next 4, and kill the one remaining, Game also saves anytime you earn experience, that includes picking a plant or stepping on a spider, when you fast travel to a tower, and when you exit to main menu.
