"Reckless Hate" rune. is it working properly?

I have had the "Reckless Hate" rune applied to my dagger for a while so i could take advantage of Shadow Strike ability more often via extra elf-shot. The description says: "recover +4 elf-shot for combat drain". I took this to mean an additional 4 elf-shot but noticed combat drains were only giving me 4 total. Oddly though when i un-equippefd the rune, and all elf-shot runes, i was still getting 4. So how is this rune supposed to work? Is it working properly period? i can't find anywhere where it says the default amount of elf-shot you should get from the combat drain ability w/ no upgrades. it is an epic, and from what i understand, exclusive rune (comes only from the Playstation Legion Edition an steam GOTY edition). You think there would be some benefit to it.

No it doesn't give you additional elf-shot, it will only recharge them up to +4. So if you had 8 elf-shot and used them all up, then performed a Combat Drain, you'd end up with 4 elf shot out of a total of 8. A second Combat Drain would fully recharge all your elf shot, but after that the rune would have no effect. At least until you used up your elf shot again. As for the amounts of elf shot you can get, you start out with 4, and there are perks you can unlock that will each increase that amount, by 2 each time I believe. The most you can have, IIRC, is 10.

Thank you that explains it. One last question, do you know how many elf-shot Combat drain by itself is supposed to restore. it seems like it is four anyway which would make me think that this rune would be almost totally pointless since you would need two to regain any more elf-shot than you normally would yet it is an epic and they patched the game so you cant have the same epic rune equipped twice.

ok sorry It says Combat "BRAND" man i was confused lol but ty. Looks like i need to figure out how to get runes geared towars elf-shot now

There's some that give a percentage chance of regaining an elf-shot just for using the bow, but they're not easy to come by, and the odds are generally low. If you do come across some though, they do stack. So with 2 or 3 of them installed on your weapon you stand a pretty good chance of recovering an elf-shot or two each time you fire your bow.
