What do do against those dog-like beasts?

It happened to me twice in 30 minutes that a bunch of those dogs spawned around me. I had no arrows so I couldn't shoot them.

How do you counter those things? When the big green "A" button appears, to dodge, nothing happens when I press it. It doesn't work at all, my character never jumps away. It always works against any other type of an enemy and the green button is exactly the same.
What to do to counter those things? I'm seriously getting enraged because they spawn nearby when I'm fighting a captain and they grief everything around and are impossible to counter.

ride them.

if you haven't yet, get the skill for riding those beasts. next time they spawn around you, run to a cliff or building and climb it, and when the beast is below you the game prompts you to push a button. a QTE after, and it's yours. the other beasts will leave you alone when riding.

The way I kill those beasts (Caragors) is by fully charging my bow at shooting them in the head twice. If you have no arrows then you are dead meat. I have a skill that reduces draw time for the bow so it might be hard if you don't have that skill.

Find a party of Orcs to run through and/or find a wall to perch on. They can't attack you on a high wall.

Dodging Caragors is bugged to hell and back and is extremely unreliable. Two charged shots to the head with the bow is the best way to dispatch them. If you have execute charged from combat they go down with that. Otherwise run. Get up on a solid wall and fast travel.
