shadow of mordor but a film.
Just imagine if this game is made into a film of what happened during the lord of the rings and after the hobbit because this game and its second one called shadow of war becoming a film, it would explain what happened to mordor when suron returned and destroyed it. Also in shadow of war how (spoilers) Talion was at mordor during the final battle and Cellebrimbore fighting the eye of suron while Frodo, Sam and Gollum are inside.

Tell me, would it sound good.

Thing is, the whole Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War are non canon. So, theres that.

True that it is non canon with all the LOTR moviesand books and yes it is basically a Batman Arkham game with easier enemies. Well it might work as a story in the land of Gondor, but overall
it is just a thought on this game. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes they could and it could be a seperate film but with references to the LOTR movies.

I agree, would be good, I enjoy the cutscenes.

But at least we have the upcoming TV series to look forward to :)

I would say no. The games are allready what they need to be and they allready tell the story they intended to tell in the manner it was meant to be told.

They made a live-action trailer though. Kind of cool. Sorry I have no link.

when it comes to Tolkiens works though, as you research it more and more it becomes increasingly difficult to come to a clear consensus regarding what is actually canon and not. As Tolkien was revising his works throughout his entire existance. Even the films are not technically canon, they are adaptations and they had to alter a lot of things, remove some and add others, but such is the way with the mode of adaptation in general.

This game is an extrapolation of the films for sure, but supplemented with a lot of research on the developers part into the world of Arda.

Aesthetically it is an off-shoot of the films. And the graphics and such are good enough that they allready kind of seem like a film if you ask me.

Regarding the TV series...I am really wondering as to what they are going to do with it. Are they just telling Frodo's story again? Or are they going to tell different chronicles from Arda? I think the latter would be cool. Show us Tom Bombadillo and Beren and Luthien and such characters at least. Not really sure if I should be excited...because it could go south. They really need the best people working on it for it to become great...

That's enough gabbin'

Last I heard was it'd be about a young Aragorn.

Sounds ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Like i want to sit through 4 more hours of remastered garbage with unedited footage and happy rosy cheeked hobbits staring at eachother for uncomfortable amounts of time.

All these people here who clearly don't like Tolkien, acting like they'd even be the target audience for a SoM film lmao
If you don't LIKE Tolkien, this post clearly isn't aimed at you. The only people who would be interested in a SoM movie are Tolkien fans. That much should be obvious.

Honestly, I'd be kind of afraid.Video game adaptations don't usually end well, and the Hobbit movies just weren't anywhere NEAR the same level of quality as LOTR was. I'm scared enough for the tv series.

The first two hobbit parts were fine. In fact I almost felt it would have been fine if they shrunk 1 and 2 and shoved three in as the end of 2. 3 just had way too much action. Stopping at 2 it felt like we were going to get an epic conclusion and all we really got was a over exagerated fight scene.
