Test of the Wild Ordeal.
After 43 attempts at that Test of the Wild i give up i am sick of tired of 80% of the captains being monster slayers and most hate graugs so i can't abuse the vomit mechanic to bypass monster slayer the fact its 40 minutes downright ticks me off since the bright lord was 60.

I have renamed the title from 'I Give Up' to 'Test of the Wild Ordeal' in the hopes my ordeal that was given some inspiration to beat it helps others who wish to get this achievement.

Oblivion Aug 4, 2017 @ 3:16am

you can do it! you are 2 achievements from a perfect game!

i looked at an old steam thread and a guy who completed it had this to say:

Focus on warchiefs.
The sooner you can target a warchief, the more captains he'll have as bodyguards. Don't bother extracting intel from the basic uruk, though. You are a captain killing machine, after all. Just dominate captains and pop their heads after you've got the intel from them. It might seem like a bad idea to take on a warchief and three captains at once -- especially if you're going in blind against the captains -- except for one major detail...
Always be on a graug.
Graugs make short work of most captains through direct head-bites or their poisonous vomit attacks. Each of the three strongholds has graug bait near the entrance. Learn their locations so that you can summon your vomit-spewing head-biter after luring out a warchief and his bodyguards. After you've made short work of the warchief and his entourage, switch to wraith vision and do a quick sweep of the stronghold for any wandering captains to chase down.
Do not wander around.
40 minutes might seem like a long time, but the less time you spend between targets, the better. The only time you should be looking for wandering captains is if you're in a stronghold and have just cleared out a warchief. Event waypoints on the map are guaranteed to have at least one captain at them. There will almost always be events on the map to complete. Many of these locations also tend to have graug bait in nearby ruins.
Abuse fast travel.
As long as you're not in combat, fast travel is available. Most of the time after you kill a captain or warchief all lesser uruk will flee in terror. This is your opportunity to instantly warp out of the area and continue your hunt with a free health refill. The timer is paused while you're viewing the map, so you also get as much time as you want to plan your next move.
Environmental hazards.
Never underestimate the power of bees, fire, and explosive grog to thin out the herd. Less time spent dealing with the grunts means more efficient captain killing. This is especially helpful for those few captains who hang out in the back of the stone stronghold that your graug can't reach easily.
That One Warchief.
The captains may be randomly selected, but the warchiefs are the same as from the campaign. That said, there's That One Warchief. You know the one; He wrecks your graug, is immune to nearly all attacks, and melts you with his rapid fire explosive crossbow bolts. Even worse, while you're dead those vacancies you've carved out will get filled in and your headcount will drop. If time allows, pull intel from captains until you've found this warchief and then target him first to minimize your losses.

Here's how to make him slightly less imposing: stun him, build up your combo with a flurry attack, as soon as your combo is lit (but before you perform the finishing hit) quickly switch to your bow and double-tap him with fire arrows. You may need to build up your combo on a grunt first, but once you've lit the warchief on fire, he's more vulnerable to being stunned. Repeat three or four times until dead.

Its not the warchiefs i ever have a issue with its the beast invulvernable captains that gets me, the points? just solo a stronghold the warchiefs and other captains without beasts? easy as pie its getting RNG to side with me on traits that let me kill them with beasts like i can kill a monster slayer with a gaug due to the vomit mechanic or i can just combo them half dead then mount for the kill as a graug.

Also gotta add after trying this so many times that it sucks these mechanics aren't in the Nemesis Forge imagine vomiting on your Nemesis and seeing there reaction in Shadow of War lol.

You can still bite their heads off. If you're fast enough and they aren't looking your way you can even pick them up before they have their introduction.

I actually got lucky doing that once there was a captain with a bunch of immunity traits out in the field and snatched him up was glorious i will admit, hard to manage that within the strongholds speaking of which entrance is it for that south stronghold that has the graug bait? cause it has two by the towers.

It's been a while, I'm not sure. Also, you don't really need to get intel on the captains, any regular uruk will reveal their location. Use worms to get intel on the warchiefs instead. There are always one or two uruks at the base of the starting tower. You can interrogate them and fast ravel back on the tower to make them respawn. Takes like 15 minutes but it's worth it. When you have all the captains' locations, get a graug and book it from captain to captain and oneshot them. Of course if you do lose a graug fast travel back to the nearest bait.

As for war chiefs, I think it's quicker to stealth brand the one with the spears and command him to start riots against the other chiefs. For the xbow guy you should charge up your bow special and keep shooting fire arrows at him.

Wait don't you need all 5 warchiefs dead? gotta ask cause i nearly screwed up my test of the ring when i branded one by mistake and killed him later and didn't count to the overall number and the only way i succeeded was i had plenty of time and got myself killed to promote a uruk.

Pretty sure that's how I did it... Test of the Ring's a bit weird anyway right, iirc you can't dispatch-kill warchiefs?
Chronoreaper Aug 4, 2017 @ 6:56am
Yea aparently dispatching in Test of the Ring does not count as killing that warchief or captain, it might have something to do with the fact one of the bonus objectives is to brand a certain number of uruks might test it out in the Test of the Wild and if it works ill further test a branded captain being eaten by a graug hopefully the 40 minute timer doesn't interfere after that.
Ziel Aug 4, 2017 @ 6:59am
Ok I just branded and dispatched Tumhorn in TotW, it did count as a kill. Maybe to be safe dispatch him before actually killing the last warchief.
Chronoreaper Aug 4, 2017 @ 7:07am
Good to know all thats left to test is beast killing a branded captain if that works then all ill need to do is figure which entrance for the south stronghold has the graug bait.

I have done it and with 10 minutes to spare! thank you two for your great help but i chose a alternate approach a little, i branded the Graug Rider guy after i ate both of his bodyguards then used him to riot the others (i ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and ate him too once but all good cause i branded another right after), turns out 90% of the riot locations have graug bait (when i had smuggler vs ghul keeper there wasn't one wasn't a fun fight) so yea the trick is to brand the tanky graug rider and use all graug baits to your advantage cause there always some, my trick to making graug rider wait till after i ate his bodyguards as well as dealing with Zudor is to projectile vomit them so even there hatreds cannot activate until it wears off (only one shot else they could die mind you) then rinse and repeat while killing all brandeds (minus your warchief but hes on constant command for you) even if you screw up you can always brand the guy you accidentally missed with the graug and cause it does not tally up like the Test of the Ring (thank god) it works out much better.

Also as a extra thing i wanted to mention, my final captain to kill was a berseker with the black gate title! been trying for ages to make one spawn in the nemesis forge :( he was nice armored too not the usually spikey berserker armor.

Now all thats left is to upgrade my ring in the bright lord campaign and piss off a uruk stronghold for 20 uruks in under 60 seconds branded.

Do you actually need to play the quests first or you can jump on this challenge as a new player?

Self answer: Pretty much need to play quests
