Shadow of Mordor TAKING FOREVER TO DOWNLOAD

Before installing the game, it said that it would take about 3 hours to download at 3 mb/sec, now it's been over six hours, but it's hardly made any progress.
Things you should know about my situation...
--I'm on a Mac.
--I'm installing it directly to an external hard drive (where I have all my other games which worked fine).
If anyone could help me, shed some light on something, or give any advice, I would very much appreciate it.
PS I don't want your crap about Macs, I need a way to fix the downloading process.

How much space is there on the hard drive?

Also the game needs 67gb of space or more and you have 3mbs so you can do the math on that.

EDIT: I did the math using a random site and if you have a constant 3mbs connection it should take 53 hours to download.

try a different download region. maybe the steam server you are connected to has a problem or there is a network problem between you and it.

I would hazard a guess that your external hard drive, or rather the connection between it and your computer is causing a bottleneck as the computer downloads data and then has to funnel it to the hard drive thought a USB cable.
