Wonky, Broken, garbage controls
Am I the only one noticing these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrendous (just like my spelling) controls? Feels like a bad port x100. I try to climb and I roll. Dodge and it does nothing. ♥♥♥♥ man. Im trying to stealth and I sprint. Is it only possible to play this with a controller?

The problem is that targeting is done with analogue WASD keys instead of the mouse so its imprecise compared to a thumbstick.

I have no problems playing this with keyboard + mouse. The controls are fine.

Yes, the other 1,000 threads on here and google about really bad keyboard controls for this game on the PC are all make believe.

The controls generally work for me (keyboard+mouse). Remember though, that the actions are context dependent; if you're near a wall and you try to dodge, you might end up climbing (and vice versa). If you try to brutalize but hold the mouse button a little too long, you enter range mode. And so on. Can't really be helped, just try to avoid situations where the game engine might get confused over what you want to do.

While most of the controls are okay, some of it is just attrocious.

I can't count how many times my dumbass character has ran up to a wall and jumped 12 feet in the air 3 times before he actually decides to hang on.

At one point I went to climb a forge tower and instead of sticking to it I jumped into the wall and was stuck till an urik saw me and throwing axed my ass.

At one point I had to restart the game because I jumped into a window and then just got stuck on the ledge. I could rotate and move on this tiny windowsill, but it refused to allow me to jump down. I couldnt jump down, or hang down, or attack off.

Mixing the sprint button and the "context" movement button the same is an aweful choice that probably only exists because it's a console game designed for controllers with few buttons you can simultaneously push. Too often I just want to run but I touch a wall and then jump 12 feet up, half the time I don't grab the edge.

Caragors control ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aweful. I get that it has 4 legs so they went for the skyrim horse movement style but it just doesnt work. Pressing right click while on a caragor does nothing at all unless you have someone to eat. Pressing left click will spam your sword on both sides. Why? Why the ♥♥♥♥ not allow me to choose what side I'm swinging? Why change the execution buttons? Shift + left click is the default buttons to execute someone on the ground... so why change it for caragor? Why not just leave the execution the same, and then allow me to right or left click to swing my sword right or left?

Pressing the drop button takes WAY to long to let go. I press E and instead of instantly dropping I grunt and do a short pull animation. Who thought this was good?

Why is there no "immediately drop from the ledge you're standing above" button? If I'm standing at the top of a structure, and there is another ledge 10 feet away, I can't get down on that side without slowly climbing down and then falling. I have the choice of holding space and jumping to and sticking to the structure ahead, and then pressing E, or I can press E, do a long ass animation, and hold E again to finally drop. Instead of holding E and just dropping. There is enough time in the "climb down and hang to ledge" animation, that it should be able to recognise I'm holding E and just let me dive off.

This game is so damn fun but there are so many little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things they couldve easily fixed.

I just started playing this game keyboard/mouse and in the beginning it was ok. But I've gotten far enough into the game with my number of attacks building and I'm finding that I'm losing control of my character. He reverses when I don't want him to on his own, runs right back into the mob that is chasing me, won't climb walls when I need him too, too many rimes I'm barely making it out alive. So whether the game is getting confused by the number of NPCs chasing me or It's the number of attacks I have available, it seems to be losing its grip on managing the action in the game and my inputs. I'll give it another chance and if this keeps up, the game gets shelved. :steamfacepalm:

Could you explain, are you saying that if you get in over your head, you lose control of your character? Thing is when there are 10- 20 Uruk, all trying to get a pice of me, I should still be able to run in a straight line and that becomes impossible as my character reverses all by itself. If this is a mechanism in the game, does it have a name and is it explained anywhere?
I'm up for a challenge, but not for the game making my character lame when the going gets tough.

You revived a thread that has been dead for 7 years. He's just trolling you.

Well it's still an issue in game. Was it ever discussed?

Similar problems for me with xbox controller. Seems that in close combat mode the controls do different actions so blocking what the player wants to do. For example, a good strategy (in many games) is often just to sprint round in a semi-circle to flank the enemy but the sprint control changes to a roll in close combat. In addition, there are some auto actions which seize control from the player preventing him from sprinting around. You can literally hold down the sprint controls and the avatar stand still while the enemy attack. It's what some call smart software but I call smart-arse software (or dumbware.) The game tries to lock you into certain combat moves instead of leaving you free to choose your own.
