Sadly its rather far into the story. That said, you'll see why its so late in the game as the ability to 'brand' (AKA mindcontrol) really makes you borderline OP. Combat Brand (the ability to brand enemies mid-combat) means you can basically turn half your enemies against their buddies in a large fight.
