How do saves work in this game?

I played through the first and second chapter, closed the game and wawnted to continue later but all my progress is gone.
Did i miss a manual save option. I have seen the "Hotfix" notice yesterday and rechecked today. But still the game doesnt save my progress.

And like most of the time. The error is on the user side. My OS blocked the creation of the save files. Had to allow the game to be able to that on OS side.
