Steam Client Service on game log in?

It popped up when I went to log in asking if the app could make changes on the device, never seen that before with this game, does it have something to do with the recent update?
Why does it want to change something?

Hi! Most likely it's the Steam prerequisites installer. Maybe they updated some of the Visual Studio runtimes. This is out of our control and is usually asked once when launching any of the games that require those runtimes.

Same thing happening and for this game only. Suspicious. This needs to be looked into and a better explanation given. I will not authorize this without understanding why and what it is doing.

I have had the Steam client thing pop up for several games recently. So far I've just been declining it.

I think it's something to do with this game specifically because of another weird thing, I have a Omen gaming laptop which has a program called Omen Gaming Hub that auto cleans space and optimizes game performance and every time I logged into the game yesterday I got the popup from that program about how much of a speed boost I was getting and that was very unusual also, that little notice is something I only see once in awhile, not every time I log into a game, so that's 2 things that seemed out of character for this game and it was right after that update, which makes me think it was connected to whatever was changed in that.

The explanation has been made. Steam occasionally updates some runtime libraries and that requires admin permissions. The fact that it does so when launching the games, without telling the user it's not the game itself asking for those permissions, is beyond our control.

PS: As proof, I got the same prompt when launching Rocket League (also for FT2) in my computer.

Once I accepted it and the redists were installed, the prompt no longer showed up in either game.

Ok, I will accept it then. i have DirectX12 and sometimes games have a popup about installing something for 11 or wanting to know if I want to run in 11 which I decline because they seem to run fine in 12, and this game is 11. It's just weird I was getting the speed boost notice from my Gaming Hub with every log in along with the Steam notice right after that update.

It's just the Steam app, it's not going to hurt your computer and there is nothing suspicious about it. Does none of your software get updates?

The question was answered, what is your point with the snarky remark.

Ofc my software gets updated, and I've also gotten popups from games wanting to change settings for DirectX, install programs, accept EULA's for data gathering, and assorted crap like that. One can't be cautious enough with any app that wants to make changes to your device.

Plus the Steam client updates never come with a description with what the update is for, and as solid as Steam seems to be anything can be hacked, so yeah I'm always suspicious.
