One of the core goals of the game is to be able to play offline (by yourself, or in split-screen), so you can play on a laptop, a Steam Deck or a Nintendo Switch (in the future) without worrying about losing connectivity.
We don't plan on making online mode mandatory at any point.
This is sounding great! I would like to ask another question if anyone knows.
Are the world saves interchangeable? Like, can I create one offline, play whenever/wherever I want and then suddenly invite my friend over Steam to join whenever they want and after the session is over, toggle it back to offline?
From the main menu you'll be able to switch your farm mode between online and offline.
If it’s online or offline why would I be unable to play offline? My game refuses to let me into my farm unless I am connected to the internet. Any ideas?
Not sure what you mean. You mean you can't launch the game? That's a Steam thing, maybe it was in the middle of an update and it forces you to finish it?
Does it mean you can launch the game, but can't enter your farm? This should shown a warning telling that it couldn't connect to the server, then offer you an option to play in offline mode.
