You could still just have a flat farm... you don't have to take the bonuses. I like having bonuses that encourage diversity in your layout rather than just mass farming with no depth.
You have to unlock teraforming, which is high level. My 3 farms are surrounded by horrible hills and ditch map sections that I'm no expanding from the main slot we start with, and frankly, not playing as much because of it.
Edit: then they don't have to spend time on balancing the game for different farms.
In fackt i started 3 maps just to check if i had missed the option somwhere.
Overall, this makes the gardens more varied and interesting.
The game is not for rushers among gardeners anyway. :)
