Smart Lanterns vs Garden Lights vs LED Lanterns

Is there anything different in comparison in regards to these items other than the diamond price point? My autistic self is not understanding. Does the smart lanterns light up sooner or something?
(I currently have garden lights and I noticed once my game "turns dark" that they lag a bit to brighten my gardens)
