Bitmap resources not found. Error since update
When opening a project in FL Studio 12 which uses the 64 bit version of Z3TA+ 2, I get the error: Bitmap resources not found, and the suggestion "please verify the location of the resources folder".

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have launched all versions in steam. When I open a project in FL Studio I get the Bitmap Resources error, but the files are in the folder it is looking for them in. I did notice there's an extra \ in the file path shown in the error, just before resources: d:\steamlibrary\steamapps\common\cakewalk\x64\z3ta+ 2\\resources\

When you launch standalone are you seeing the resource error?
PeepingTom Feb 2, 2016 @ 3:57pm
No. They work fine.

I am having this same exact issue after updating Z3TA+2!

Guess I'll have to find the preset I used in the 32 bit version and never use the 64 bit one again. Already have a load of old projects screwed which used the original Z3TA, and Cakewalk seem to have deleted my account on their website and didn't respond to my support request (needed to re-install and don't have installer).

Sorry if you already know this, but if you have a custom vst plugin folder for FL Studio, you have to copy the new dll version into it, and delete the old dll version.

Every time Z3ta+ 2 / Rapture Pro updates, I copy the new dll's to my Ableton Live 8 custom folder, overwritte the old ones, so I can use them in Live.

Hope this helps.

It knows where the dll is because the synth still plays for me. The problem for me is that it won't open at all when I try and open it. This is a huge annoyance for me. I probably would have been better off not updating it.

I am getting a resource error that wont allow it to open properly. The resource error is specifically with FL Studio. I have never had this problem before the update.

I have the exact same issue as the OP. Z3TA+2 was working fine as a vst in my DAWs before the update; afterwards it is complaining about not being able to find its bitmap resources. Standalone works fine, vst fails the same way in fl studio 12 and in ableton live 9.6.

I really hope they fix this soon! It's holding back my projects!
I just fixed it for myself. Details - 1 sec.

I was basically playing around with installing and uninstalling it and running the vst manager (not sure wtf that does) from steam. I reinstalled it 3 times because I forgot which drive it was on originally and I have a folder link from my big vst folder to the cakewalk vst folder within the steam directory structure.

Basically I think uninstalling and reinstalling it is what did it, making sure to get the drive to install onto the same as it was before if you have more than one. Also run the standalone once and the vst manager for good luck. Turn around three times, throw salt over your left ventricle, say three hail Marys, cross your fingers and don't walk under a ladder.

Then it should work. It's working for me now anyway and I had absolutely 100% the same error as you.

It's annoying that our vsts can be messed up by them doing updates on steam though. Would be nice if we had z3ta+2 totally standalone so it couldn't be messed up by steam updates.

ChazEd, I could kiss you! I won't, but I could ;) No, I hadn't realised that, even though I should have. I copy and pasted it over, and it's working fine now. Thanks a lot :)
I was getting the same error though and my dll wasn't pasted into a custom place. The way I do it is by making a symlink in my vst directory to the cakewalk vst place.

I have no idea why this happened, but after some file searching I discovered that I had multiple copies of the .dll in various places. This was after I uninstalled Z3TA+2 from Steam as well. I just deleted all of the files manually, reanistalled, and now it works perfectly as it should. The samething happened to Rapture pro as well.

I have no idea why this happened, but I hope it helps anyone who is having this problem!

Stay away from me!

LOL

Glad I could help!

I have this problem too since updating. I haven't tried completely uninstalling yet. I have started both the 64 and 32 bit versions as standalone, which works fine.

Interestingly, the resources folder is full of images, just that they are all .PNG files instead of .BMP. Is this supposed to be the case? It seems strange to me that there would be a step required that magically transforms the PNG to BMP.

Sorry for the delay on this everyone. I noticed that my user account had been unsubscribed from this forum and I wasn't seeing updates.

I went into the properties of Z3ta+ 2.2, chose beta version called "legacy2.1 - Zeta 2.1 Build", waited for the installation of this beta version, rolled back this installation (went back and gave up beta versions) and waited for the installation of this actual version. The problem was associated with my bad (piratical) operating system.

This sounds like the DAW was still loading an older version of the plugin actually if swapping the resources resolves the issue.

Are you using SONAR/Music Creator or another DAW? Do you know where the DAW is referencing the plug-in from?

In February we updated Z3ta+ 2 to 2.2.2 and included a new authorization mechanism and changed to optimized (.PNG) resources. This error usually will only show up if you haven't run the install Steam install script or something took our your registry keys, or the DAW is referencing and older version.

1. First thing to do is launch Steam with Windows Admin privleges: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5688-ifhz-2170

2. Right-Click on Z3ta+ 2 in your Steam Library and go to 'Properties > Local Data' and click the [Verify Application Cache] button.

3. Once this is done, launch Z3ta+ 2 standalone on STEAM. You'll be prompted with a small registration box. On completion this will activate Z3ta+ 2.
