How Enemy Stat Scaling Works (I think)
So a new update came out and I know people are talking about the difficulty change already.

But I decided to check for myself, and figured something out, and maybe this will help you.

So I'd started the game as normal, trained my little hero in all stats equally, and fought my way to the second Goose quest, and made it all the way to level 9. However after failing to defeat the boss, I decided to go back and get a bit more EXP to level my HP and then train my stats so I could win.

However after fighting in nearly all the levels, I found that the only one I could actually complete was the intro quest.

Now like many people who are playing the game, I was very confused, and chalked it up to the difficulty going way way up. How would someone at level 1 get past this level?

However then I thought "Wait, what if you really DID try and beat it at level 1?" So I tried it.

I started a brand new game and did the first mission again at level 1, and it's just as easy as the first time I did it! I then did the mission an additional time, and it stayed at that initial difficulty, with me one-shotting Metal Poop with only 20 damage, and only taking 1-2 damage from the monsters.

Then I went back to my previous save at level 9 and failed to one-shot Metal Poop while doing over 80 damage, while taking over 10 damage from those same monsters.

So from what I can tell, it looks like monsters don't scale their stats to match the difficulty of the quest. Monster stats scale based on your character's level. The stronger you are, the stronger the monsters are, regardless of what quest you're doing. This means that the lower level you are, the easier missions are, and the higher level you are, the harder missions are.

But since you need XP to increase stats and the cost for that goes up with each training session, this brings up a big problem. That is, based on how difficult the missions are in relation to how much EXP you're getting, I'm pretty sure your hero can get soft-locked, when you can no longer beat the tutorial quest.

And if you can't complete any quests, that means you can't gain EXP, meaning you can't train or level up, and it also means you can't gain any more Gold, meaning you can't buy equipment or temporary stat boosters to make you stronger either.

So far, I'm at level 9 and am stuck on the Goose level, and have found that even though I was able to get to the boss previously at level 8, after gaining a level since that point I can no longer make it to even 1/4 of the way to the boss.

Oh, and by the way, I leveled up to level 10 mid-mission, and I found that monster stat scaling readjusts the moment it happens. A quest which you could 2-shot orcs will suddenly change mid-mission so that you now have to 3-shot them, meaning you're absolutely screwed.

tl;dr, all enemies scale to your level, and the lack of EXP means you can soft-lock and your idle game no longer lets you idle.

SUPER useful. Also rolled it back to 1.0.4 because that was NOT my goal. Ha. Not looking to softlock people like that. That was my fault really. Should be easier now and the energy cost should be crazy low on chapter 2, but such is life.
