Kojima needs to get his franchise back...
Contrary to popular belief, Konami never stopped making games, and it never ceased to be their main focus. Also, Konami's pachislot branch closed in 2017; "Konami bad because pachinko" stopped being applicable years ago.
Konami does a lot of outsourcing (e.g. getting MercurySteam to make the Lords of Shadow games), but they've been doing that loooong before their key talents departed.
You are correct but I'll also point out that mobile games make more cash than what kojima produced in the past.
Or, here's a wild thought, people can just wait for a sale if they can't afford the game.
