MGS6
Konami will certainly develop MGS6, if the remake of 3 sells well enough. MGS6 will continue the story of Metal Gear beyond the events established in MGS4. I expect Rising will be ignored in the canon.

Nope, not gonna happen, konami are pissing themselves even thinking about that idea after survive's botch. The best they can legitimately do without kojima is remake the older one, so yeah if mgd3 is a success then it wont be mgs6 next, it will be mgs delta/charlie 2 then mgs beta (mgs1 remake) then last but not least, mgsA (mg 1/2 remake - although that would also be quite risky)
It's a step backwards to remake MGS1 and 2 after the remake of 3 has been completed. They are going to see how people respond to MGS3 remake, and then they will make a brand new MGS.
Why would it be a step backwards? If anything its testing grounds to see how a fully fledged 1:1 remake would fair, assuming its a success its also the perfect grounds for new players to get into the series. Obviously peace walker being directly after it, i dont personally think they will remake that for modern platforms like they are doing with 3 but i can see mgs1 and 2 having the remake treatment

MGS1 and 2 are very simple compared to MGS3.

Maybe mgs1 is a little on the simpler side but i wouldnt argue mgs2 is simple. Yeah theres no disguises or camo but still has quite complex features and i dont think anyone would complain if they had a 1:1 of mgs1, as long as its better than the horrible twin snakes

The worst flaw of Twin Snakes is that the game is too easy. A remake of MGS1 and MGS2 will include crouch walking, making the games too easy. It also makes no sense for Solid Snake to do CQC in MGS1 and 2. The problems are endless. It will also be a problem to adapt the tight corners and narrow hallways of MGS2 within the context of these new controls. The entire thing would have to be remade, far beyond the scale of mgs3 remake.

For a MGS1 remake they'd need to omit the cqc system all together in order to maintain established canon. In MGS4 it was said Snake was trained in the techniques, but refused to use them because they were taught by Big Boss. If there was ever a MG1 remake, they could include the cqc system because he wouldn't have had the falling out with Big Boss yet.

I assume you are making a comparison to Resident Evils remakes.

I just think they should retcon 4 personally and split the timeline and make a new sequel to 2. But make it compete with games like Arma 3.

MGS 5 sandbox was the right move but they needed to keep with the hollywood level story and action. 5 was great but lacked in story missions and epic set pieces (needed more inflitration into compounds).

Main "Solid" games died after 4 and I hope it stays that way for good. They should either move forward with Raiden's "Revengeance" arc or explore the story of other characters like Grey Fox, Solidus, Liquid or even, ♥♥♥♥, Skull-Face.

Stop milking Big Boss, already.

As far as I'm concerned, the story ended with MGS4.

Revengeance continues the story after MGS4. I say this respectfully, but you are wrong.

That sure is a big shoe to filled if they do. Many time people forget the attention to details MGS1-3 and even 4 has. Can current day Konami or current day gaming even allow for such thing anymore? Far as we know Konami themselves don't even have a gaming in-house team. Most of the new projects are outsource. The internal are just handling direction of the game and not so much the development itself.

If a mgs 6 is made there is a several different ways the story could go for it. It could take place right after 5 involving venom snake or big boss as theres still a long gap of time between 5 and metal gear 1. A game set before mgs 3 involving the boss as the main character could be done. Also a game could be made set between the events of mgs 1 and 2 when snake and otacon make Philanthropy about destroying metal gears across the world. Finally they could just make a mgs revengeance sequel.

All of that stuff pales in comparison to a well-told story that is set after MGS4 and Revengeance. A prequel game about the Boss is kind of boring. There is not much new there. A game set after MGS4/Revengenace, will allow us to see a new world. If done correctly, this is the winning option.

I mean they could but would it have a new protagonist? Snake would probably be dead at that time in the story because of the accelerated aging.

I think they actually mention Snake being dead in codec stuff in Rising. At least, I remember them talking about him in past tense without really explaining what he's up to, in contrast to Otacon, who they do give you an update on.
