It just doesn't feel right having MGS games on PC
The series is synonymous with consoles (particularly playstation) and it feels like a disservice to Kojima by releasing the MGS3 remake on PC when his intended vision for the game was for consoles only.

I said it back then and i'll say it again now, metal gear games are best experienced on a big tv in your living room with a controller, NOT with a keyboard and mouse on a cramped computer desk

Ok... but who is forcing you to play it on PC?

MGS1, 2, 5GZ, 5TPP, Survive and Rising were all on PC.

MG1 and MG2SS, the games that started the series, were made for PC.

So shut up with this "Metal Gear doesn't belong on PC" nonsense.

And you can plug your PC into said big TV and play with a controller, what's your point?

lol what kind of troll are you?

1. there's no such thing as "best experienced", that's entirely subjective and up to the player, if someone wants to play it on monitor and kbm, that's gonna be their "best experience"
2. you can easily connect a tv to a pc and you can connect any controller to a pc and it will work on any game, there are no limits or restrictions on pc like consoles do

Dumbest take i've ever read.

I sure heard this same when Yakuza was announced for PC. Stuff like "This belong to PS, Don't take it from us", "I will not buy anymore Sega titles". Take a hike. Stop being a manchild and most importantly stop being fanboys for a particular platforms and storefronts.

Alonso are you trying to still up some smoke! what a weird take.
BORN2DIE Jun 6, 2023 @ 2:30am
so people playing MGS on a 4:3 TV on the PS1 weren't experiencing the game?

and what, you think Kojima don't want PC players to play his games? OR that playing on PC somehow diminishes them?

I hope you are just trolling and then I guess you got me, but... meh

What a crazy take considering I was just doing this yesterday with my Steam Deck hooked up to a TV!
It think that any game as multiplatform, and then as digitally distributed, is devalued in our experience compared to a game tied to physical media and a specific system. Just compare the lived experience of acquiring, storing and preserving a physical disk and of the game store on it requiring a mediation of a specific console in order to be played, where that console itself is something that costs money, takes space, has to be taken care of. If a console is broken, another one of the same sort must be acquired in order to access the games tied to it. Now compare it to the experience of games as available anywhere, anytime, on any system. With PC gaming and digital distribution, we of necessity experience games as something less valuable and cut off from physical referents.
And yes, we no longer see games as tied to a specific place and time. For artist like KOJIMA, gaming is a holistic experience, so not just the game as interactive simulation, but on what it is displayed, how and on what it is controlled, is a part of the experience. Recall how MGS1 for example references the contents of your PSX's memory card, how MGS3 was designed around the pressure sensitivity of pS2's controller etc... PC gaming is inimical to it and artists like KOJIMA might actually look at its effects in horror.
