Best skills for priest
I love story-focused RPGs, but I find myself frustrated at irreversible skill paths which you have to pick from the beginning without knowledge about their further effectiveness.

I'm now around lvl 7 and I didn't realized that you can automatically identify items with a skill other than the magic one, I leveled up the magic one but it seems the non-magic one is more powerful.

I realized too that mana costs are HUGE for the magic spells, the items with magic charges seem more reliable, the alchemist path is for them. Magic is more powerful in the mid-late game?

What should I level up to kick ass? I have to go back to the priest for free recharges of hp and mana every 10 seconds out in the field if don't want to become completely poor lol, I want enemies fleeing from me and not the other way around.

I tried to search for guides or wikias on the Internet, but I can't find any about this game.

You mean that the Identification skill works better for you than the Sixth Sense spell? It was the other way round for me. At any rate, yes, spells get more powerful later on as you invest more skill points into individual fields of magic. I was able to kill most of my enemies with one to two hits in the last Act which really makes one proud of his character. Looking at my priest, I can see that I invested most into all fields of magic (to have access to all spells), Wisdom (useful for casters), Alchemy (because I wanted to mix a few elixirs permanently raising my attributes above their cap). And I also have a few points in Melee Combat to be able to defend myself while the spells and seals are cooling down, and a few points in Perception to be able to find hidden stashes and secret doors. Points invested in Identification were a waste for me and I also stopped investing in Authority soon.

As far as spells go, my favourite ones were Lightning (Magic of True Faith), Rain of Fire (Pagan Magic) and Decay (Heretical Magic) (for opening trapped chests and doors from afar).

If you have difficulties in combat, hire a few companions (they can be useful in Act I) and buy a few seals (the Lightning ones are my favourite).
