How to purify the pagan temple?
I cant figure out how to purify the pagan temple in act 2. i found a walkthrough that says i have to talk with the statue again after i defeat the 3 guardian spirits.
But there is no talk option and i tried an earlier save where i killed the spirits again, but even there i am unable to talk to the statue. Do i need a specific item to purify the temple?

You must first talk to the guy by the entrance of the temple (Welfar or something his name I think) in Glatzburd, I don't remember his name, so he can give you the quest and also an item with which you can spray the temple with holy water and consecrate the temple. To get the 2nd dialog option after you talk you must have both talked to him, have the item he gives you, have holy water and then talk to the statue a second time.
i talked with him ages ago and i dont remember him giving me any item. I always carry holy water with me because of the other quests that needed it. There is simply no talk option on the statue after i defeat the 3 ghosts.
The guy at the temple only asks me if i am done with purifying the temple when i speak to him, where i can only answer with no

is this quest important for the main quest/evidence gathering?

Ok I loaded a previous saved game. The item he gives you is called Aspergillum, takes two inventory blocks horizontally. In case he didn't give you due to a bug or you misplaced it, you can get a new one with the console command \givenewitem Kroptiko. The ~ button brings the console. As to your last question, no it's not a main quest, however it opens up a second quest after this and the total XP reward is quite nice.

HandOfBane is right, only one small correction - the item string is "Kropitko" (Czech for "sprinkler").
