Stuck in Iron Mine and several other questions
Hello everyone, this game was in impulse purchase for me when I saw it on sale. I usually like arpgs but never really enjoyed rpgs like Baldur's Gate. Nevertheless this game is really amazing for some reason. I absolutely love the setting and how it looks.

I played for about 9 hours with my paladin and to be honest this game is incredible hard and doesn't give you any hints what to do. I managed to get into the Iron Mines and I'm stuck there. I found a secret path that leads to a second floor where I found a key. Unfortunately I can't find the door for the key. There is one huge door but it won't open. There are also some levers but I'm not sure what they do, I know that one unlocks a door. Anyway how can I proceed.

Also I'm basically not using any magic, except for a few seals. Is it worth putting much points into magic as a paladin? I found out that seals seem to be incredibly powerful and I kind of regret playing as a paladin. Priest might have been much for fun, melee combat can be a bit boring to be honest. Although I don't want to restart.

Anyway thanks, really dig this game.

Friendly Neighborhood Brotherhood of the Righteous paladin here, hopefully ill be able to give you a few helpful pointers or whatnot. as a paladin, magic is against you in a way, considering you can only get to tier 2 of the magic discipline. that being said, it is good to invest some points, especially the ones that give you Levitate, Raise Dead, and Reflect Wounds.

those are your go-to paladin spells since Levitate helps with your future lava and acid pool problems, Raise Dead keeps your party members kicking, and Reflect Wounds lets you tank out of every situation and reflect some heavy-hitting damage back at them. seals are your best bet since they're cheap to buy and easy to use to open doors and chests. absolutely do not waste your money and stat points on magic to get Shatter. as tempting as the spell might sound, unless the door or chest you're looking at is made of paper mache it'll be hard pressed to open (failing the majority of the time because lack of higher-tier magic discipline)

onto your other problem, it has been a while since i have trudged on through the iron mines but i do know there are some locations where you have to flip somewhat-hidden levers to open up a door or two. that being said, you can also bash open doors with your party members (hitting Z then clicking on the door) as well as using seals to open them. Key-specific doors cannot do this though, so your best bet is if you cannot bash it down (and trust me it may take a few moments of your time) it requires a key or switches flipped. if the level i'm thinking you're on is the case on the iron mines, there should be around 3 levers scattered all throughout the map on that specific lever that opens up a gate for you to progress through the iron mines.

overall, don't lose faith Brother, the journey may be long and dangerous but i'm sure you can get through it. hope i helped, and good hunting in your inquisition!

Maybe these maps[www.gog.com] on GOG.com could help you find your way around the Iron Mines.
Well, I checked gog for some info but I didn't find those maps. They're really useful, thanks!

Anyway I just bashed through the doors by attacking it, now I'm in the orc caves but it's a bit frustrating at the moment to go out of the dungoen again in order to get new supplies and maintenance done. Is there a way to quickly leave the dungeon and go back in? I've read somewhere about portals.

You're welcome. If you would like to know how to open that door without bashing it, just let me know which one of them you mean exactly and I should be able to tell you more.

Well, there is a portal in the Orcs Caves leading out to the surface, but it's at their very bottom, on the third level. The easiest solution is to break a magical box and shop with the genie. Priests and thiefs can use the combination of the Holy Ground and Divine Mercy spells to transport to another location (but that is only a one-way trip and they have to walk one way anyway or use a genie to transport them out). You can also use the command console to quickly jump to the world map (which is what the genie does when you ask him to get you "out of here"). Just press ~ and type \transferplayer map 0 0.

I think the genie box will suffice, although I don't have at the moment. But I saw that some shopkeepers sell them. Then I can repair my stuff and sell all the loot on the fly.
