Stuck on quest regarding executioner's curse

Prior to undertaking the quest, I finished the alchemist's quest to get the potion of longevity from Ellissia, after which she won't talk or sell to me. She did give me the potion to cure his disease, so that was done at least, but when I go to her to ask about the curse, she refuses to talk to me. I've talked with Quarim and the executioner, figured out Lotti was Hans Faulkner's lover, everything but the talk with Ellissia, and everyone tells me to talk to her.

Is the quest broken? Can I no longer finish it?

I'm aware of what I'm supposed to do, my problem is that Ellissia won't actually talk to me about the curse, since she hates me for taking the anti-aging potion to the alchemist. My question is: Is the quest broken, or can I salvage it, presumably by doing Ellissia's quest?

Though I'll probably just restart and play it by the book next time, all things considered.

You really should be able to improve your standing with Ellisia by completing her quest to bring her the herbarium because bringing her the herbarium will grant you more "reputation points" than you lost by taking the potion for Theil Brechthold from her.
