It only makes sense that you find more blunt weapons.
Heck a wrench, or baseball bat last a very long time. I mean i can do some loot runs, a few side missions, and some main missions before it even starts to get damaged to a point i need to place it in my box to be repaired.
High quality edged weapons are quite sturdy. Not as sturdy as blunt or heavy but still, it takes far less swings to bring down a zombie, so overall they're kinda the same.
If you have max skill for edged weapons it takes 1-2 swings to chop a zombie (not counting the instant decapitate move you can get at lvl 7 specialization) vs 1-4 with a blunt weapon.
The only high quality blade I found was a broadsword and that became damaged after several days of use.
Well..actually I have a ginormous knife collection in my kitchen, a katana in my bedroom and a HQMWRS (high-quality medieval weaponry replica shop) less than two blocks away.
But thats not the point, point is that the majority of all edged weapons have less than 3 durability whereas the majority of blunt/heavy weapons have 3+ durability. Another strange thing is, that there are plenty of blunt/heavy weapons with negligible weight (Wrenches/Axes) *and* max durability which makes choosing an edged weapon spec even less desirable.
This always made me wonder - It seems like Marshall has a big cosplay scene or something with all of those replica weapons everywhere. In my last game I ended up with more "movie prop" weapons than actual axes and what have you.
