Tired?
Soooo.. If I was my survivor to rest, I have to switch to another one during the night? Is that it? How do I sleep and recover? Do I have to play during night time as someone?

You have to switch to another character in order for you survivor to rest and you have to have enough bed places to be sure they start resting right away. It's a good idea to switch between your survivors, because an active survivor is a happy survivor. :)

But if you can't switch to another, because everyone's tired, look for coffee and energy drinks in fridges and food markets.

Yeah it doesn't matter what time of day it is. When your character starts getting tired/beat up or injured, swap to a fresh one. You can even do this while out in the boonies and your character will make it home. It's good to have at least 3 working characters and rotate through them. That way if you somehow lose one, you'll still have two with powered up skills that'll give you time to train in a new one. I call it the Xcom method.

I made a lot of missions with a tired survivor, that doesn't matter at all. Perhaps you need to be a little more cautious, that's all. If you have skill you just play your tired survivor the same as if he wasn't tired. I only swap for the roleplay, not by necessity. Almost all you can do with 100 % stamina you can do the same with 80 %. Cook a meal in the kitchen to compensate that's enough. Train your cardio, +5 % sta each level, +35 % at 7th level. Tiredness means nothing in this "survival" game...

Plus, you have snacks and coffee if you want to cheat...

There's coffe, energy drinks even amphetamines and trucker pills. Also *spoiler* there's an option later in the game to have the preacher put your stamina back to 100%.

So...how do I switch survivors? I've opened the menu and gone to the the page with all the characters, but I can't find a way to change characters

After you click on a character portrait it says switch on the left (if you are eligible for switching, meaning having 'friend' status with them). On PC the button for switching is 'q'.
