How often does the game auto-save?

I've only been playing for a couple of hours but I was wondering does the game just save in the safehouse and /or after a completed mission?

when you start a mission and finish it it saves also if your character is about to die lost marcus a couple times got really pissed lol

Game is constantly saving, granted that you're not on a mission. If you are, its not saving anything. Once its done, it resumes the normal watching over everything.

Say you are playing, but you crashed (i had crashes pre TU4, or TU3? forgot). When you come back to game, its all saved anyway.

Your progress is saved, your character, his skill progression was saved, he is at base, safe and ok, and even your car (sadly, lol) was saved, so its sitting where you left it at the time of crash.

I agree with Soul Patch , it save all the time, i drop a gun into the chest hit Esc to get a drink i see it Auto saving. You will see that icon a lot. A side note, if you worried about losing Saves/Messing up just do like i do and have 2 Profiles, and make Periodic Backups of your Save Folder. I make a backup every few days just in case, of (Mods/Glitches) you never know ;)

I just have to press Esc to pause game for a sec and it saves.

Pretty much what everyone else said, but just posting again to anyone else whom may read this just incase it wasn't stressed enough.

Make sure your not on a mission, otherwise nothing will save.
