yeah see to expensive
Its the same exact game you already own. Except there are still plenty of bugs in the current game. So you are going to give them 20 Euros to get the same game with better resolution? Give me 20 Euros and you have your choice of magic beans , special invisible clothes the king wears, or the pen is mighter.
Do not buy the Year One bull ♥♥♥♥♥♥. You reward developers for not fixing problems and offering an insultingly low discount to buy something they should be doing for free. Soon you will be paying them to fix bugs from day one and then they will start adding in game microtransactions.
Vote with your money. Tell them NO ! Fix the game we already bought, then release a NEW GAME with new content, new story lines, new engine.
I can't say I like this trend.
The good thing is that we should get a discount, the bad thing is that for most players the new features probably won't justify spending more money especially when you already own the game and all the DLC.
And in all fairness the preorder bonus thing looks pretty bad IMO.
I guess it's up to you to decide how you want to spend your money. It seems to me that the new release is a great deal for newcomers but if indeed the discount is only 33% then it's not that great for current players. Usually when a game is released like that people get at least 50% (Deus Ex Human Revolution was rather fair in that respect).
There are always reasons but sincerely it doesn't make it right for players to pay for the exact same content a second time (and eye candy, HD stuff and better DLC integration hardly qualifies as something new especially if what you care about is the story and the characters involved).
Sure, polishing a game takes some work and you have to pay people for that but what I don't get is how people can find excuses for this trend that makes us buy games twice...
I'm not blaming anyone in particular mind you. I'm not pointing the finger at the devs either. If I were to blame someone I would blame people who encourage these practices by embracing them. I'm guilty, I have both versions of Deus Ex HR in my steam library (but in my defence the new version did get a decent discount for previous buyers so it was like getting some DLC and not a new game, still fool me once... I'm not getting the new supposedly improved version of Sleeping Dogs anytime soon that's for sure).
What Bigguns 93 posted above makes a lot of sense. Nobody would have anything to say against a brand new game with enough content to justify a full price tag.
EDIT: Okay I looked through the shop pages, and turns out main game is 18,99, breakdown is 5,99, lifeline is 6,99.
YOSE will be around 20 euro I think with the discount.
So lets face it, somewhere down the line, YOSE is actually cheaper. YOSE is also for new players. Besides, all pre-purchasers get a special character. It's a way of saying thank you to all the fans from UL.
That means for the FIRST time ULs can put in all the extra content they had to remove as well aslot of stuff from our wish lists THE FULL LIST of content/changes in YOSE has yet to be released so noone can assume anything at this point.
Based on the videos and posts on ULs forums this version is totaly incompatabile with the version of SOD that is available right now in every way and if it where a patch of the original game they couldnt do any PC only changes which they have allready said are in YOSE.
IF you want to be ignorant then i cant help you, the info is out there for those actually interested
in making informed descions but stop with all the miss information because its just getting ppl worked up for no good reason.
In any case I'm sick and tired of that new trend, Sleeping Dogs, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, Dark Souls 2 were all playable in their original states. I've come to this forum to find out what was going on with the new version of State of Decay and what I see is either people dismissing it outright or people defending it fanatically.
Call me ignorant if you have to, but you're not making any point that would convince me that I'm wrong. I'm not disputing that the new release is a great deal for new players but I'll wait to see the actual improvements and determine if they are worth spending my hard earned money and as a consumer that is the smart thing to do.
Last but not least, preordering to get a bonus exclusive NPC is definitely NOT the smart move so stop pretending otherwise. Preorder exclusives are among the worst things to ever happen to video games and if you can't see that there is no reason to spend money on a product before being able to make an informed rational decision about it then there is nothing more to discuss.
