Breakdown: Random Deaths
So I started my breakdown campaign today and it said that a person went missing and died; a fully trained, happy, full morale, powerhouse, that was not missing when I stopped playing last night.

I seem to constantly have these problems with breakdown. On another playthrough three people three real nights in a row commited suicide. The base had full moral, everyone was happy, and two of them were highly trained.

Are these glitches or random events that naturally happen?

Is there something I'm suppose to be able to do to prevent these things from happen besides what I already listed?

Well, when one of your survivors is missing, sooner or later there will pop up a "seek and rescue" mission on your map. You will have to search an area and eventually find your friend hiding from Z's. If you don't do those missions, the outcome is not pleasant.

One of us has some very strange luck. I've not had one suicide, or even death while i was logged out of the game. Can't imagine it happening three nights in a row.. which you did mean while you were logged out overnight on that, right? Maybe check everyone over each night before you call it quits, see if anyone is away from home and has a "check in" option where the journal part has the "switch to". The check in thing can be done when they are gone a while and before they call in to say they are in trouble. A new marker pops up on the map then where you can go talk tot hem and send them home.. just be sure and kill any hordes or the fat boys and such that happen to be nearby.

The mission never popped up.

I finished my session last night with no missions active, the guy that even died was accounted for. Then when I started today he was dead.

Whenever you got missing status in one of your survivor, do not quit your game. Wait until you got mission to find them. If you left the game, highly chance they will died when you login the next time.

I sometimes have a bug where Lilly stops telling me about missions, they still pop up on the map, but she doesn't mention them. It's possible that you are having that bug with missing survivors, so aren't aware the person is missing. But three nights in a row, that seems kinda nuts.

For me glitches start in Breakdown level 6... Crazy stuff. I couldn't list it all if I tried.

It does happen from time to time. It's a very low percentage. The thread comes up from time to time with someone asking about it. It happened to me too. I had Erik Tan in my base when I logged out, logged on the next day and he was dead. He wasn't sick, he wasn't missing, obviously no morale issues with that dude, just up and died on a mission. No rucksack to recover, and I lost his gun.

Haven't seen it happen since.

Never had a death, suicide, or someone leave while I was offline. I have never quite the game without morale being maxed out, plenty of food and meds. Played through SOD 2x, Lifeline 3x, and have 50 hours or so into Breakdown.

If your ammo is at zero, low morale, low food or meds, and not enough outposts, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone dies while your offline. All survivors are armed with a gun and a melee weapon handpicked by me for their abilities.

I never let a lost survivor mission linger, its a top priority.

I know i'ts not the right discussion But have any of you recieved the mission on breakdown stage one to kill a survivour

No outpost or small number of outpost often lead to "Character did not make it" event (even at breakdown level 1). Strictly speaking, having 8 outposts only significantly reduce chances of missing survivor dying, not completely eliminates it. Not sure if base morale plays a part (unlikely, I went on a killing spree once which plummeted morale, I let a few missing person mission expires, they keep making it back).

Riftchaser, you are talking about The Killer achievement in breakdown right? Should be able to get some help by searching "How to earn The Killer".

Ok, after a new round in Breakdown, I finally get what Guardian585 is saying.

In Breakdown, the game DO kills off one of your best character, as a unavoidable event, when you continue the game later.
- Do not need a missing mission. The character has no outstanding emotion crisis. He is a hero.
- I just started a round, got 2 outpost up. My guess is outpost may not help.
- Not sure if nearly maxed out stats has something to do with it.
- All equipments on him are lost forever.

I guess this is the game's (unnecessary) way of keeping the challenge up. It also give me a warning light not to invest into a character too much. Also swap out rare gear before exiting game.

Thats odd, but once i had learnt the ins and outs of SoD i have never lost a survivor when offline for any reason, over 200 hours but since they had to dumb down the persistant world for the cry babies everything is so easy to get around.

i ifnally got a message about losing a guy when i logged in this morning.. i intentionally did not try to find him because he was just a random extra baggage sort of ally..

other than that i have never had someone die in breakdown out of the blue thru various playthrus of lvl 6 or higher.. in this case i ignored the find survivor missions to see if he would die because of this thread.
Crokite Sep 27, 2014 @ 12:08pm
Clear the missions if you have your community member out there who need help before quit the game. i think it's xx% chance to lose a member if you ignore them missions.

Morale are about 50% and material are taken when logging back to game. This is normal. That makes sense as there is no one doing anything at that "idle" time. as far as i know anyways.
