I didn't notice any change in breakdown, any changes made I doubt they did to make him more "stereotypicaly gay" they probably just grabbed the first voice files they could find. Andy Pimms sounds like a wacky black guy, and Quentin Barnes sounds like a deep voiced black guy, keep in mind they are both white characters. They were really lazy with the voices in breakdown and I too am dissapointed in Undead Labs. Don't take it is some kind of homophobic move though, any thing they did that made him as you say was likely on accident.
Also, I actually don't think Jacob is gay. It was strongly implied at first, certainly, but then if you're using a female character when you rescue him, he hits on you, and if you use a male character, he doesn't. I know "I'm not ashamed to be seen with you" implies that they're in a gay relationship, but it could also imply some sort of other relationship. Maybe the Wilkersons have some sort of feud with Jacob and Lily's father, for example.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought that way. They're shortcut characters with special skins, and it feels more like they're presence detracts than adds. I think I actually would've preferred it if they had just made completely unique heroes instead.
