Switching weapons

Apologies if this has been covered, but I can;t seem to come up with a search string that actually provides an answer. Hundreds of results that don't answer the question, but...

Anyway, I feel like an idiot about this, but how the hell do you switch weapons? I've played multiple games of the original and the first DLC, and I could always switch back and forth from my melee weapon to my gun and back at will.

But, I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it now... the right mouse button seems to switch from melee to gun, but once I have the gun out, all it does is use the scope. I can;t get back to melee no matter what I try...

Release right mouse button?

Whenever you click left you melee attack.
Unless you hold down right, then you pull out your firearm and left click will fire weapon.

errr... well, if I were holding down the right mouse button, I could try that.

Since I'm not holding down on the right mouse button, it's a moot point. :-/

Never mind, figured it out. Even though you keep holding your gun after pressing the right mouse button, you won't shoot it, you'll instantly switch to your melee weapon when you hit the left mouse button. Duh... should have remembered this...
