You will want the Latrine because it will eliminate the possibility of your soldiers getting sick from unsanitary human waste.
Remember what happened to the Army in the base game?
Well, in this mode, soldiers do NOT get better because of how fast-paced the game is, so like the Army in Trumbull, you are forced to leave sick personnel at base, and they become very vulnerable during sieges.
Speaking of getting sick, be VERY careful driving around Danforth. If you hit a Bloater, there is a very high chance of getting sick, especially if you bring a squadmate with you (they almost inevitably get sick from Bloater gas).
The way I set up my FOB was:
*Pre-built facilities
*Medical Bay (closest to Comms area to minimize contact with infected during sieges)
*Field Workshop (to unjarm weapons and enable melee weapon repair; car repair does NOT exist in Lifeline)
*Latrine
*Generator (this is necessary for upgrading all facilities, and can be further upgraded to not need Fuel)
You will not need another storage area because the Generator will upgrade the storage to Refrigerated Supply. You can research Solar Power from your Ops Center, which is basically a given.
The benefits of having a Generator are higher than having more bunks, especially since it is hard to actually recruit soldiers. Even with Search and Rescue on, usually you just don't have time to recruit them, because the siege timer forces you to choose between rescuing VIPs, rescuing civilians, finding materials for your base, and recruiting soldiers, and usually the first three are higher priority than the last one.
