Fairfield Reservoir could be Pymatuning Reservoir(which is Southwest from Meadville), and County Fairgrounds(potential home site) could be Crawford Country Fairgrounds(which is Northeast from Meadville).
Actually, when I first started playing, I immidiatly drew comparisons to Alan Wake and Bright Falls. If I remember correctly, that was in Washington.
So yeah, Rural Washington State I would say.
Actually.... now that you mention it
Undead Labs and Remedy(people that made alan wake) were both funded by microsoft to produce their games(both of which were basically timed exclusives on Xbox consoles until they were ported to PCs), and both games take place in washington state......Is something going on here?
Also....Just saying, Undead labs isnt part of microsoft....microsoft just basically paid for the developement of State of Decay, they dont own the company. that is exactly the same story as Remedy.
Sounds to me like Undead labs is no more a part of Microsoft just as Taco Bell is not a part of PepsiCo. Yes, PepsiCo released Taco Bell, and thus they no longer "own" them, but you will never see Coke being served at a Taco Bell. I believe the same thing is true with undead Labs.
This is a cut and paste from Undead Labs:
FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY
Did Microsoft purchase Undead Labs?
No, they just own our souls.
Kidding! Seriously, Undead Labs remains an independent studio, in full creative control of the games we make. That said, I wasn’t BSing when I said we are excited to work directly with Microsoft on this project. Over the past year we were approached by numerous publishers expressing an interest in partnering with Undead Labs. Not surprisingly, many of them were MMO industry publishers who were drawn to the team’s track record in that industry, and while they were excited to work with our team, most of them wanted us to work on yet another World of Warcraft clone.
Screw that. We’re here to do cool new things; not rehash things that literally hundreds of other companies have been trying to do for half a decade. The team at Microsoft Game Studios immediately understood where we wanted to go with this, and they’ve been enthusiastic proponents for the vision of a zombie-survival online world game from the very beginning. In short, they’re a true partner for us, and we think they’ll drive as hard as we will to get there.
Sounds to me like Microsoft does yet does not own Undead Labs. They do go on to say that it is highly unlikely that any of their games would ever be released on PS3
