Does State of Decay 2 really require Windows 10?
Curious about this, if that's the case Microsoft is forcing us to use Windows 10 in order to play their game, can't say that I'm stoked about that.

Yes. It is required for all Windows 10 games on their store. If you are really afraid of upgrading, just wait 6 months or so. The game will likely come to steam just like State of Decay 1 did in 2013.

I just found out the game will only be for Windows 10. Not buying it. What a disappointment. Had nothing but problems running Windows 10 and went back to Windows 7 Pro. Will not buy any game from Microsoft Store or requiring Windows 10 at this time.

People will whine about anything.

Shocking that the millions and millions of people that use Windows 10 do not have the same "problems" you have. You must be a special person that uses your pc for things that no one else does and need to run on a 10 year old os just so survive.

People will whine about anything.
And some people don't think they need to pay to upgrade their OSes every time a new one comes out, especially when what you have is already fine. Or just don't like moving out of what they find comfortable. Microsoft is really annoying about taking more and more control of you as OSes go on, I had to do so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to Windows 7 to make it as much like XP as possible and there are still little things I miss from XP.

On their FAQ page on their website it mentions Steam but only says "Stay tuned - we'll have more to share in the future." Not going to be on release but them mentioning it probably means later down the line, but to as far that line is I dunnos.

Every forced windows 10 update breaks something for me, anything from removed files, removing game registry so they say they arent installed, to my old computer which made the screen flash black and kick back to login.

Hate windows 10 but I put up with it

I was able to upgrade for free but I don't really appreciate games like this one requiring a certain OS, almost all games work on Win 10 AND below, not requiring a certain OS in order to run.

Anecdotal of course, but i use widows 10 and wish i wasn't forced to. If certain games didn't arbitrarily require it i wouldn't have kept it installed. That said while i'm forced to use windows 10 for games, i'm not forced to use the garbage windows store and their horribly flawed UWPs. They don't make anything worth my time fortunately. I'll wait the 6 months for the real PC release of State of decay 2.

I upgraded to Windows 10 for Forza Horizon 3 and Killer Instinct. I'm pretty sure State of Decay 2 will end up being available on Steam later on, but it won't be at launch. Dead Rising 4 did the same thing. The thing is, I'd imagine its locked to the Windows 10 store for at least 6-8 months for contract reasons. Windows 10 isn't the worst thing ever, especially after all the updates, but I understand about not wanting to upgrade

Don't need to act like a ♥♥♥♥ to him. I've updated from windows 8.1 to 10 and had to grit my teeth through many small issues, and some major. I'll stick with 10 because its the most modern, but doesn't mean I'll ♥♥♥♥ on whoever refused to do so..

Microsoft bought Undead Labs- so it'll make sense that they'll eventually throw the game to Steam but keep the game on the Windows Store for a while to help it get some sales and views.

windows can't compete with steam's monster marketshare of the gaming market, so they're going to have to play ball with steam to bring their game onto their platform. I bet the game going on steam will quadruple whatever sales they get on the windows derp store, even months after release. :soviet:

I wholeheartedly agree with anyone that will avoid the windows derp store like the plague tbh. Microsoft should just downsize and stop trying to be a big dog in the gaming market. it won't happen.
